And the positive is why I love the Midwest: we have over 12,000 people out of their homes. We have under 300 in the 2 shelters that are open. That right here shows how people help their friends and neighbors. A friend of mine invited a military family of 4 to live in her basement because she wasn’t using it. They are from Velva that just got the notice to evac today which is a town 40 miles away.

I took a bunch of pics from outside the library we evaced yesterday and man its rising fast. They are saying up to 4,000 homes will be damaged. Worst part is 4 inches of rain is falling into our NW river basin now. The pics I attached (first 2 are from my work roof, 3rd is a house west in Burlington).

It may be insensitive, given the circumstances, but one question comes to mind with one incident in particular….

A blizzard baby delivered inside the lobby of a snowbound Brooklyn building died after an emergency call of a woman in labor brought no help for nine excruciating hours.

The baby’s mother, a 22-year-old college senior, was recovering Tuesday night at Interfaith Medical Center, where her newborn was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m. on Monday. That was 10 hours after the first 911 call from the bloody vestibule on Brooklyn Ave. in Crown Heights. “No one could get to her. Crown Heights was not plowed, and no medical aid came for hours,” said the student’s mother.

My question: where was the father? Whether he could of been of assistance or not, he should have been there, if at least for comfort and reassurance. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of him in The New York Daily News story at all.

The problem is too many of us aren’t listening, buying green cars or sorting our trash. They’ve given us choices and we’ve been too stubborn to choose wisely.

Sounds like they’re done playin’.

“I often hear energy experts who have never studied behavior say that behavior doesn’t change,” says ecologist and sociologist Thomas Dietz of Michigan State University. “But if we learn anything from the last 50 years, it’s that behavior changes in huge ways.

“We also looked to programs that have tried to change other kinds of behavior for analogies. I’m glad to hear that others are following this line of work,” he says. “It’s one of the best tools we have for getting a realistic estimate of what behavioral change can accomplish.”

Instead re-branding or coming up with scientific data that hasn’t been manipulated, behavioral scientists are looking back towards the best ways to (again) force us to come around to their way of thinking.

The kids weren’t enough. Now they’re coming after us.

Shortly after driving through New York City, there was the ominous, distant light show. We eventually were caught in the storm, complete with respectable lightning, rain and high wind.

After eight hours of driving, we were 16 miles from home when we notice a lot of leafage, small logs and branches on the road. It was then we hit our first official tree and power line-clearing roadblock.

We spent the next 90 minutes (after being told by two separate police officers that we wouldn’t make it home) serpentining downed power and cable television lines, branches, took dirt roads found on the GPS that were eventually blocked by fallen trees before arriving in our hometown that was barely touched.

Since I’ve been living in this area, we’ve had at least two years in a row of drought during the summers. Winter of 2008/2009 we had a major ice storm, and just a few miles north of us, ice wreaked devastation all over Kentucky where residents were without water or power for weeks. Volunteers from the electric company in Nashville went up to try and help them. People who had worked in New Orleans after Katrina commented that it was worse than Katrina. Electric poles were snapped like twigs. I, myself, got off easy. Pregnant, with a deployed husband, I only had to spend one cold, boring night without power.

This year, we’re heading into summer with a massive flood, mainly along the Cumberland River, which twists its way down middle Tennessee.

When you do hear about it, you mainly hear about Nashville. It’s not just Nashville, though. It’s all along the Cumberland River, and I don’t doubt that it’s also in low areas where water can collect, and probably along creeks. There was flooding up in Kentucky as well, with reports of road closings.

We ourselves got off lightly. We had a big tree branch that drove itself into the ground like a spear in our backyard from the winds. The end of our gravel drive, which goes over a ditch, was washed away, leaving a +/- foot wide and close to a foot deep gully. Living at the bottom of a hill, debris from the ditches at the top had piled up before our drive, allowing the water to rush over it and carry the earth and gravel away.

This past weekend was like none other I’ve ever experienced, as far as rain. It wasn’t just raining, it was storming. Water poured down constantly for two days. When it did let up, it was barely a break before the next torrent. Then it just kept raining. Monday morning, the clouds were gone, the skies were bright blue, and the sun was shining in all its Spring glory.

Here, downtown is situated against the Cumberland River. This was an area that was trying to make a comeback. New businesses had just moved in, and the city had just redone sewer systems that had been causing a problem in the area. The intersection had just been repaved. It is all underwater.

No one can go to work there, and the damage to the buildings and inventory is unimaginable in this area. Sure, it’s not a hurricane, but at least with hurricanes you get a few days warning it’s coming. In a hurricane, you have the ability to board up and try to protect your belongings, and leave. Here, all you get is a forecast of rain, and that usually doesn’t mean ruin.

I had gone grocery shopping Monday, after the rain, and I was noticing a lot of water in other people’s carts. I started talking with the lady I stood next to. She said she had just come from the local Walmart and people were fighting over water, taking it out of each others carts, and the shelves were quickly emptying out of canned goods. I’ll have to take her word for it, because just hearing that, I had no desire to go to Walmart and see for myself.

The water treatment facility was flooded, so people were trying to make sure they would have enough water. Some were doing it in a rather uncivilized fashion, apparently.

A coworker of my husband had a video of his house posted. His basement was flooded. Some of their other coworkers were there trying to help him out with the flooding. He/they had sandbagged the doorway, and were trying to pump the water out of his basement. My husband informed me, when I showed him that video, that his coworker had just had an in-ground pool installed. Well, apparently his pool just got a lot bigger and muddier, as whoever was filming surveyed the area and showed the massive flooding by (and in) his house.

Here is a gallery of pictures that people have taken of the flooding in our area.

Over time, the flooding will eventually recede, and it already is starting. Then people will have to pick up the pieces of their lives. I’m sure there will be a lot of inspecting, repairing, and washing going on in the following weeks. With some, it might even mean they have to have their house demolished and rebuilt. Only time will tell the true extent of all the damage.

The computer models that guided decisions to impose a no-fly zone across most of Europe in recent days are based on incomplete science and limited data, according to European officials.
Hmmm. “… incomplete science”, “limited data”, “over-stated”.

Seems like we’ve heard this before but some people just won’t listen.

If there’s a drought – it’s global warming. When there’s a hurricane – it’s global warming. If there are heavy snows or even blizzards – it’s somehow global warming. And amazingly, the latest round of rainy and windy weather in the Northeast, well that’s consistent with this phenomenon as well, so says former Vice President Al Gore.

Gore, the self-anointed climate change alarmist-in-chief, told supporters on a March 15 conference call that severe weather in certain regions of the country could be attributed to carbon in the atmosphere – including the recent rash of rainy weather.

At some point, Gore should be reminded that the Fifth Amendment is there for a reason.

I’ve got all these liberal punks mouthing off on my Youtube channel, calling me (among other things) a liar on various topics. This while their whole global warming/climate change world is crashing around them. They’ll never admit they were wrong. They’re just pissed off that they are suckas.

The bad news continues.

Using fossil fuel in vehicles is better for the environment than so-called green fuels made from crops, according to a government study seen by The Times.

The findings show that the Department for Transport’s target for raising the level of biofuel in all fuel sold in Britain will result in millions of acres of forest being logged or burnt down and converted to plantations. The study, likely to force a review of the target, concludes that some of the most commonly-used biofuel crops fail to meet the minimum sustainability standard set by the European Commission.

Also, crops used to feed people will instead be used for the more lucrative biofuel market. The poor the left so cares about will be left to starve (as they won’t be able to afford the spiked price of basic staples) just so they can feel good about saving the planet.

These people have been used by environmentalist, liberal adults and believe in all things “smart’ and “green”. They aren’t that smart after all.

This is fun.

(AXEL SCHMIDT/AFP/Getty Images)" src="http://www.black-and-right.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/james-inhofe-150x99.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="99" />He’s spent years declaring the debate was over so he didn’t have to. He’s testified to a mostly friendly Capitol Hill, made an Oscar-winning documentary, and won a Nobel Peace Prize to save the planet, while setting up a carbon credit repository that would personally enrich him.

He’s about to be called on the carpet and his answers are going to be very interesting, that is, if he doesn’t plead the Fifth.

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) today asked the Obama administration to investigate what he called “the greatest scientific scandal of our generation” — the actions of climate scientists revealed by the Climategate Files, and the subsequent admissions by the editors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (AR4).

Senator Inhofe also called for former Vice President Al Gore to be called back to the Senate to testify.

“In his science fiction movie, every assertion has been rebutted,” Inhofe said. He believes Vice President Gore should defend himself and his movie before Congress.

Stock up on the popcorn, folks.

Just prior to a hearing at 10:00 a.m. EST, Senator Inhofe released a minority staff report from the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, of which he is ranking member. Senator Inhofe is asking the Department of Justice to investigate whether there has been research misconduct or criminal actions by the scientists involved, including Dr. Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University and Dr. James Hansen of Columbia University and the NASA Goddard Institute of Space Science.

Since the Climategate Files were released, the IPCC has been forced to retract a number of specific conclusions — such as a prediction that Himalayan glaciers would disappear by 2035 — and has been forced to confirm that the report was based in large part on reports from environmental activist groups instead of peer-reviewed scientific literature. Dr. Murari Lal, an editor of the IPCC AR4 report, admitted to the London Daily Mail that he had known the 2035 date was false, but was included in the report anyway “purely to put political pressure on world leaders.”

Based on this Minority Staff report, Senator Inhofe will be calling for an investigation into potential research misconduct and possible criminal acts by the researchers involved. At the same time, Inhofe will ask the Environmental Protection Agency to reopen its consideration of an Endangerment Finding for carbon dioxide as a pollutant under the Federal Clean Air Act, and will ask Congress to withdraw funding for further consideration of carbon dioxide as a pollutant.

While this may be the scam of the century, one of the co-conspirators should be the media (not Fox News) who failed to cover this, and teachers who blindly echoed the falsehoods. They were the usual cheerleaders, perpetuating false claims that sent sobbing elementary school children to bed with nightmares, adding a bogus movie to the school curriculum for mandatory viewing, created teenaged and college-aged activists, and seldom acknowledged their position could be questioned, even after the ClimateGate revelations.

The whole lot should be thrown in jail at the most, fired at the least.

As for Senator Inhofe, kudos to a politician that stood up to squealing environmentalists, Hollywood, lying scientists and academics because in the end, he was right and those doing wrong have been exposed.

Now the hard part: getting President Obama to admit HE was wrong.
