Instead of listening to pencil pushers and media pundits, you need to get the perspective of someone who’s been there…

I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

I don’t recall that either.

All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

Let’s not forget, Steeler linebacker James Farrior jumped on the Limbaugh-is-a-racist bus, quoting an Internet fabrication of Rush saying “slavery had it’s merits”. I doubt Farrior would have attacked Rush if he had heard him speak.

Rashard Mendenhall has apparently been muzzled by the Steeler organization.

Obama: Al-Qaida head bin Laden dead
Obama struck a less than boastful tone in his brief announcement, although he said the death of bin Laden was “the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al-Qaida.

Moments after he spoke, American officials cautioned that the events could lead to heightened threats against the United States.

So, it turns out we’ve known about bin Laden’s compound since November…. So why cash the chips in now?

A political cynic might think this hit was carried out at this particular time to halt the president’s plummeting poll numbers.

Had President Bush been in office, the left would have counted up all al Qaeda-sponsored terror incident victims since November and put their blood squarely on his hands.

Interesting timing of the announcement (roughly midnight Eastern time Monday morning), sure to dominate all the news going into the week.

Remember the media pattern: when Republicans are victorious they are warned not to gloat. Democrat victories are routinely in-your-face and documented.

Obama: “At My Direction” U.S. Carried Out Operation Against Bin Laden
The Associated Press covered for the president, noting he wasn’t gloating. Obviously it was assumed a lot of Americans thought he would. However, the pictures of Americans celebrating the death of a notorious Muslim will be viewed around the world as provocative.

Also noted in the AP piece is that while Osama bin Laden is dead, al Qaeda didin’t just go away and “American officials” warned there could be retaliation. That’s kind of a given, but seeing how we have a president with long arms to pat his own back and a media that will over-document American jubilation at the death of a Muslim icon, a reminder to be “vigilant” was in order.

However it all goes down, a special thanks to the CIA paramilitaries and Navy SEAL Team Six. Good huntin’ and good shootin’.

CBS paid Katie Couric big bucks to anchor their Evening News and their ratings are close to bottoming out. But as it turns out, ratings really aren’t a big deal.

Television news divisions may be thinking twice about ambitious travel plans.

That was the ominous message delivered to the “CBS Evening News” last week. The Nielsen Co. said Katie Couric’s broadcast reached just under 5 million viewers, a low point for evening newscasts for at least two decades and probably much longer. The week’s centerpiece was a two-day trip to Afghanistan….

“We think the story was worth it,” executive producer Rick Kaplan said. “I make no apologies for it at all. We didn’t expect any huge ratings surplus. What was important to us was that we do it and we do it well.”

If CBS didn’t expect any huge ratings surplus, then why did they send Couric and a crew and pay for satellite time, and since when is a story considered done well when few people watched it?

And don’t weep for Katie Couric.

It would appear everyone knew the obvious… except the president.

The top U.S. Marine general said President Barack Obama’s announced July 2011 deadline to start withdrawing troops from Afghanistan had given “sustenance” to the Taliban.

This has been a bad last few days for Barack Obama. Last week, he was called out by Congressmen King and Barton, Monday by Senator Kyl and now publicly by General Stanley McChrystal and an over-the-phone ass chewing just won’t do…

The top commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, has been summoned to the White House to explain biting and unflattering remarks he made to a freelance writer about President Barack Obama and others in the Obama administration.

The face-to-face comes as pundits are already calling for McChrystal to resign for insubordination.

If the truth is insubordination, then… McChrystal for Congress!

It’s been reported that Ft. Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan wrote some controversial comments online, but it was not enough to prompt a formal investigation….

There was a grenade thrown amongs a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. Scholars have paralled this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. Their intention is not to die because of some despair. The same can be said for the Kamikazees in Japan. They died (via crashing their planes into ships) to kill the enemies for the homeland. You can call them crazy i you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam. So the scholars main point is that “IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOUR INTENTION IS THE MAIN ISSUE” and Allah (SWT) knows best.

Dunno about you, but I may have given the good major another look. Then again, I’m an intolerant, profiling conservative.

I can always appreciate a good sauce.

And some of us can appreciate how important that can be.

Okay, the actual “war” isn’t over but we won’t hurt the feelings of our opponents by using descriptions they’ll find offensive. We may want to kill them, but humiliation is now off the table.

It’s official. The U.S. is no longer engaged in a “war on terrorism.” Neither is it fighting “jihadists” or in a “global war.”

“The President does not describe this as a ‘war on terrorism,’” said John Brennan, head of the White House homeland security office, who outlined a “new way of seeing” the fight against terrorism.

The only terminology that Mr. Brennan said the administration is using is that the U.S. is “at war with al Qaeda.”

Thanks for the tip, John.

At some point al Qaeda is expected to remove their use of the term “infidel” when referring to anyone not Muslim, as we all know their aim is to turn the world into an Islamic state, but not hurt our feelings in the process.
