All things peter out eventually.

This mystique has always been The Drudge Report bringing us the breaking news. But a new pattern has emerged. Old news (really old news) being “discovered” by whomever is now being posted, and the person(s) must assume they’re bringing something fresh to our attention.

The problem is three week old posts, as good as they are, are still three weeks old.

Maybe some of the rest of us not worthy of a link on Drudge’s front page now have an opening to try and catch up.

It would appear while some in the United States and her media is celebrating all things Obama, someone forgot to send a warm-up act for Iraq’s “ordinary people“.

“Who is Mr Obama?” asked Muhammad Saed, 29, who owns a small supermarket in Baghdad. “I stopped reading the news after the invasion because it only talks about car bombs and people being killed.”

Ahmed Chaseb, a 29-year-old traffic policeman in the Shia slum of Sadr City, had also never heard of the senator.

“I’m not interested in politics and I don’t trust Americans,” he said.

Down in the southern port city of Basra most people were unaware that Mr Obama had begun his Iraq tour at the British military base near by.

Someone who doesn’t trust Americans? Would that include Barack Obama?

Those Iraqis must be haters.

The beautiful thing about a consensus is how quickly and effectively it can be broken with the truth.

The American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on climate change and is now proclaiming that many of its members disbelieve in human-induced global warming. The APS is also sponsoring public debate on the validity of global warming science. The leadership of the society had previously called the evidence for global warming “incontrovertible.”

In a posting to the APS forum, editor Jeffrey Marque explains,“There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.”

The APS is opening its debate with the publication of a paper by Lord Monckton of Brenchley, which concludes that climate sensitivity — the rate of temperature change a given amount of greenhouse gas will cause — has been grossly overstated by IPCC modeling. A low sensitivity implies additional atmospheric CO2 will have little effect on global climate.

The only problem with the whole global warming-climate change debate is that Al Gore refuses to engage in one. That speaks volumes about how confident he is about his “science”, and how paranoid he must be realizing his scam is slowly being exposed.

I wonder just how common this kind of thing is…?

Two activists of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held a protest outside a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant here but expressed ignorance about the cause and said they “do not know much about the campaign”. The 15-minute protest was carried out by two Chandigarh-based girls, who were clad in heart shaped banners that read “KFC breaks chicks’ hearts”.

The girls, who appeared nervous, said they were the cousins of one of the coordinator and do not know much about the campaign. They slipped away from the venue when reporters tried to ask some questions, leaving their banners behind in the parking area in front of the KFC restaurant.

If these were American girls, they’d probably be Obama supporters. Outside of wanting “change”, they probably couldn’t tell you why.

I guess Bernie Mac won’t be warming up too many more Obama fundraisers…

My little nephew came to me and he said, ‘Uncle, what’s the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?’ I said, I don’t know, but I said, ‘Go upstairs and ask your mother if she’d make love to the mailman for $50,000.’

Personally I’m not offended by that joke, in fact I do find it funny. But some in the politically correct, uptight audience were offended.

I’ve always been curious as to why the left, who every year act as though they own the King legacy, never acknowledge him as a good Democrat. I guess that’s because he never was, and why the “Dream” speech sounds so conservative. Judging a person by the content of his (or her) character, and not the color of skin is hardly a liberal sentiment.

It would appear the Olympics will be light on controversy.

The government-backed Beijing Restaurant Association sent a circular to restaurants and hotels contracted to provide services to Olympic guests during the Games banning provision of dogmeat hotpots, stews and other such popular dishes.

It also “advocated” the same measure to other city restaurants, causing consternation to the limited but growing number of restaurants offering the delicacy.

Dog-meat is not traditional fare in northern China, but is a regular feature in the large number of Korean restaurants that have opened in Beijing in the last decade.

I had boiled dog during a wedding reception in the Philippines. Wasn’t bad.

A few weeks ago, the head dude of Google Australia denied a local newspaper permission to photograph the homes of their key figures, despite the fact that millions of homes were to be photographed by their company. “Providing those details would be completely inappropriate,” said Google spokesman Rob Shilkin.

Plans by Google to photograph millions of British homes and publish them online have been condemned as a ‘gross invasion of privacy’.

The internet giant’s StreetView website will allow anyone in the world to type in a UK address or postcode and instantly see a 360-degree picture of the street. It will include close-ups of buildings, cars and people. Critics say the site is a ‘burglar’s charter’ that makes it easy for criminals to check out potential victims.

The pictures also show people leaving and entering hospitals, health clinics, adult shops and hotels. Although their faces are deliberately blurred, many could still be recognised by their clothing and hair colour.

Notice the car in the picture has its front license plate whited out? Wouldn’t want to invade the privacy of Google, would we?

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which ‘burns’ the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

With all the controversies about FISA, many believe the US Government is our greatest threat to privacy. Maybe we should look a little closer to home…

YouTube users are clearly upset, as many appear ready to drop the gloves and go toe to toe with Viacom, following a ruling which puts their privacy in doubt.

A ruling last week in the $1 billion copyright lawsuit against YouTube forced the video sharing site to hand over IP addresses, user names, video history, and more from users to Viacom.

Now while intellectual property should be protected, who will be doing the searches? Who will be in charge of the information linked to individual IP addresses? Who will be in charge of protecting the results of these searches (if they even do), and can these people be trusted with YouTube user’s video viewing histories, and are we ready for a new round of telemarketer calls from those who bought that info?

Viacom is rightfully protecting their property, but there is no comparison between the quality of something uploaded to YouTube and a store-bought DVD. If the content is such that people want to own a video, they will buy it. If the content is crap, Viacom should be happy they are at the very least, still receiving promotion. But alas, they don’t see it that way.

Now while Viacom is “vowing” to protect the anonymity of YouTube users, when disks of veterans’ information are left lying around, I’m not so reassured. Obviously, the PR backlash is starting to take a toll.

So, what’s the recourse? Will there be a boycott of all things Viacom? Either way, Viacom has opened the can of worms, and the possibility that other media companies will follow suit and go after YouTube uploaders is pretty good. We are talking about the monkey-see, remake, sampling industry.

What consumers do about this will determine how safe our privacy will be.

BILL MOYERS: What does your bill before Congress propose?

LOUISE SLAUGHTER: So far, it just reinstates (the fairness doctrine.) But you know, I’ve been giving some thought to it this week. I will in no way do anything to hurt the first amendment. I’d die for it. I certainly don’t want to do anything about censorship or anything. I simply want equal time. As simple as we can make it is that we simply want to reinstate it. That people have an opportunity to give them an opposing view, that you can’t own a radio station in the United States that simply gives one side all day long.

I’m sure Congresswoman Slaughter has no problem with Link or Free Speech TV or Current.

BILL MOYERS: So you’re primarily concerned about radio?

LOUISE SLAUGHTER: No. I’m concerned about television as well. But radio is probably where we’re going to get the biggest problems in trying to get this done, because people have the radio on all day. They listen to it. And I think that says a lot. I think we can see that reflected in what people are thinking and feeling today.

BILL MOYERS: You know people say well, “Yes, it is in principle true that the government, the people passed to the television and radio companies the right to use the airwaves, the public spectrum.” But cable’s a different baby altogether. Cable is unregulated.

LOUISE SLAUGHTER: Right.

BILL MOYERS: Are you proposing the fairness doctrine for Fox News or MSNBC?

LOUISE SLAUGHTER: You bet.

And the Internet won’t be far behind, so there you have it.

The Fairness Doctrine is not about fairness. It’s not about giving access to both sides. It’s not even about the people’s airwaves. It’s about control. It’s about who gets to say how much to whom, and a liberal congress (not the free market) deciding.

Maybe now is a good time to start finding out who your congresspersons are and drop them a line BEFORE this fall’s election. Who knows what they’ll try and pull November 5th.

While this is not news to most of us, media bias achieves greater importance when check-listed…

* One is the bias of the mainstream media, which floods us with dishonest and fraudulent journalism that gives us a false picture of the world. This leads to the wrong decisions on public policy questions.

* Another is the willingness of the mainstream media to reveal national security secrets. The mainstream media led by the New York Times has developed a penchant for putting national security secrets on the front-page for no good reason.

It’s a long list….

* One of the most outrageous failures of the mainstream media is not retracting or correcting some of its most dangerously false stories that are sometimes nothing more than hoaxes. A perfect recent example is the treatment of the Haditha incident, involving false accusations even before the charges were investigated of the American military murdering Iraqi civilians. Even after almost all of those accused were acquitted or had the charges against them dismissed, the mainstream media – which put the false accusations all over the front-page — virtually ignored the acquittals and dismissals. Still another perfect example is the al-Dura killing, which inspired violence and murder against Israelis and Jews for years. Yet even when it was demonstrated to be a staged event and a complete hoax, the mainstream media virtually ignored the determination that this was a hoax, even though it put the accusations all over the front-page.

Let’s not forget the recitation that the 2000 election was stolen, despite numerous independent media recounts, each one where Bush won. Virtually none of these recount results have been loudly reported to refute the fraudulent Democrat talking point.

As covered here many times, the reason the left doesn’t issue corrections and/or retractions is because they truly believe they are intellectually superior, thus they need not factcheck what they “know” is truth, and apologies are beneath them.

So much for “truth”.

Police in Wales were called to investigate a mysterious flying saucer, only to discover it was the moon. The confused caller asked: ‘If you’ve got a couple of minutes perhaps you could find out what it is?’

The moon was mistaken for a “bright, stationary” UFO which had been loitering for at least half an hour, by a confused local in South Wales who made a 999 call to the police.

You really gotta read the transcript from the call. A true national embarassment.

As some of you whom read this site know, there have been trolls who frequent here and routinely accuse myself (and those who post comments) of smearing Barack Obama; a “decent man”. We’ve been trying to tell these people that we are the opposition. We are conseratives and Republicans who would just as soon drink dumpster water than vote for a liberal Democrat. Still, they try to break us down, accusing us of “lying” about the good senator in an attempt to smear him.

But seeing how they use the usual “talking points”, we know the people doing the smearing are those very Obama supporters themselves.

The only obstacle between Barack Obama and the presidency is the mountain of smears that will no doubt come his way. That’s the narrative that Obama supporters — and his swooning chroniclers in the mainstream media — would have us believe.

Poor babies. Welcome to the majors.

Obama himself set up a website, fighthesmears.com, correcting some e-mail chain letters that allege he “can’t produce his birth certificate,” is “secretly a Muslim” and that he “won’t say the Pledge of Allegiance.” In May, Newsweek published a cover story confirming the Obama campaign’s fears, declaring that “the Republican Party has been successfully scaring voters since 1968.”

Thus far, no one with any serious affiliation to John McCain‘s campaign has resorted to the alleged “scare” tactics in which Republicans — and, apparently, only Republicans — have been perfecting since Richard Nixon was first elected. On the contrary, if the past few months have showed us anything, it’s that the Obama campaign is the one dealing in crude smears.

So when Obama supporters latch onto your website and scream that you and your readers are racists, smearing a decent man, be sure they have Obama’s playbook in hand and they’re only objective is to shut down your Constitutional right to speak your mind.

If 900+ FBI files in the private residence weren’t bad enough, imagine what a President Obama’s minion would be “inspired” to do?

After dodging a squelched and sanitized library card plagiarism scandal, Katie Couric proves you can win even when coming in dead last.

It might run third in the ratings, but the “CBS Evening News With Katie Couric” has won an Edward R. Murrow Award for best newscast. I hope CBS starts playing up the deserved prize in promotion. The award should bring attention to the program: It’s a far better newscast than the ratings suggest.

Could this be a liberal case of chick-pity? Who knows, but I guess they had to give the award to somebody.

Some call it smart politics, some call it pandering, some call it betrayal, and some call it moving to the center. I call it doing whatever it takes to get elected, and if successful, taking it all back later (see 1992 Bill Clinton, middle class tax cut).

Barack Obama aligned himself with welfare reform on Monday, launching a television ad which touts the way the overhaul “slashed the rolls by 80 percent.” Obama leaves out, however, that he was against the 1996 federal legislation which precipitated the caseload reduction.

“I am not a defender of the status quo with respect to welfare,” Obama said on the floor of the Illinois state Senate on May 31, 1997. “Having said that, I probably would not have supported the federal legislation, because I think it had some problems.”

As one of his supporters, I’d hate to have to constantly explain these flips. It’s like being a Democrat during the Clinton years all over again.

Obama’s transformation from critic to champion of welfare reform is the latest in a series of moves to the center. Since capturing the Democratic nomination, the Obama campaign has altered its stances on Social Security taxes, meeting with rogue leaders without preconditions, and the constitutionality of Washington, D.C.’s, sweeping gun ban.

Liberals can get mad at me for reiterating my mistrust of Barack Obama.

His words and deeds speak for themselves, and with all the contortions his flip flops are forcing you to perform, I can see why you’re all lashing out. You’re just doing so to the wrong person.

The Obama campaign is alienating what he assumes will eventually be his base after the convention. We shall see.

It’s actually quite amusing to watch them employ the same anti-speech tactics they’ve used against conservatives for years, on their own. Quite entertaining, indeed.
