Watch out for the cosmetic attempts to portray Democrat Party unity. It ain’t happening, in fact it would appear party insiders are plotting and making the boo boo bleed.

Supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton furiously circulated petitions on the floor of the Democratic National Convention last nigh, hoping to stave off a plan to hold the convention’s roll call at breakfast Wednesday — out of the public eye — sources inside the delegations said.

The move being worked out between the Obama campaign and officials behind Clinton’s suspended bid, would work in two parts: Delegates would cast votes at their hotels Wednesday morning; that night, at the Pepsi Center convention site, the roll-call process would rely on the votes cast that morning, the delegates said.

So much for the Democrat pledge of transparency.

Like it wouldn’t get out….

“We just want a roll call like you’re supposed to have,” said one of the delegates collecting signatures for the petition, who asked not to be named because of concern about friction within the party.

The Obama campaign denied that there would be a change.

“This is not true,” Jennifer Backus, a senior advisor, said in an email in response to a question about the negotiations for the roll call change.

David Harper of Macon County, Tenn., signed a petition to ensure a floor vote in the hall surrounding the Pepsi Center. “I came out here by God to vote for her, and I’m going to do it,” Harper said, visibly angry about the news.

Reality seems to be setting in.

Despite all the pundit spin and party-official smiles, all is not well within the Democrat Party on the eve of the 2008 Convention. And as usual, all the trouble centers around the Clintons.

Many of Mrs Clinton’s supporters, roughly a quarter of whom say they plan to vote for Mr McCain, will be out in force in Denver continuing to argue that the former first lady would have been the better nominee. Among the most vocal is Party Unity My Ass, a pro-Hillary groups whose website trails the catchphrase “We are the ones no one was expecting” – a mocking reference to Mr Obama’s line: “We are the ones we have been waiting for”.

Their resentment has been fuelled by Mr Obama’s decision to have excluded Mrs Clinton from his shortlist of vice-presidential nominees and the fact that he offered the slot to a candidate who garnered only one per cent of the vote before withdrawing from the race. Mrs Clinton, by contrast, won almost half the overall vote.

Protests on the outside. Protests on the inside.

Unity.

Okay, let’s set this up. We have two books. One written by Nancy Pelosi and one about Barack Obama. The Pelosi book is tanking, and (for some reason…) many of the negative reviews have been sanitized from the Amazon.com website.

C. S. Johnson says: Amazon is run by a bunch of effete latte-sucking liberals in Seattle who are in the tank for Nancy, and in the tank for her publisher; but mostly they are in the tank for their own profits. Of course, they love Nancy’s politics, but more importantly they want to sell millions of copies of her unreadable, self-serving memoir. So when when Amazon reviewers trash Nancy and her crummy book, Amazon comes to her rescue. Not only did Amazon delete some 200 negative reviews, they also boosted Nancy’s star rating from one star to two.

Amazon is a private company and can basically do what they want, but is this ethical…?

Now we come to the book critical of Barack Obama. Presently a #1 bestseller.

Thomas J. Wasney says: Isn`t it odd, Pelosi’s discount bin book is a massive flop, over 200 negative reviews reflected the fact only 2,737 books have been sold to date BUT amazon saw fit to delete said reviews. Jerome Corsi`s The Obama Nation is number one on the charts, has sold over 21 thousand copies.: ‘OBAMA NATION, which debuts at #1 on both the BOOKSCAN and the NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller List, with 21,466 copies moved, industry insiders tell DRUDGEREPORT. Here in the left-wing world of Amazon almost half of the reviews for Corsi`s book are negative. A quick review of a few reveals they haven`t even read the book. Can you say hypocrisy Amazon?

It would appear some are. What’s again shocking is the liberal arrogance exhibited with Amazon assuming no one would notice their little slight of hand.

Incredible.

But wait… there’s more!

Is it any wonder that the United States hasn’t been hit by terrorists more often, when some of our very citizens do everything possible to tell the enemy what our law enforcement is up to…

Forced to defend its growing terrorist watch list, the FBI let slip a chilling fact that should silence ACLU grumblers: America is teeming with 20,000 terrorists.

That’s the size of a small town. Think about it.

After 9/11, federal authorities estimated that as many as 5,000 terrorists were living in the U.S. The new figure is jarring not only because it’s four times as large but because it’s based on real persons, not estimates.

It’s not something headquarters wanted to publicize. Officials had downplayed the threat so as not to spook the public. The spin had been that Britain has the homegrown problem, not us.

But that was before the ACLU launched a campaign with the Democrat Congress to demonize the watch list as a Gestapo-like tool. The FBI had no choice but to knock down their myths.

It’s a shame that we have so many brave people behind the scenes, whose very job it is to protect those who go out of their way to undermine the safety and security of our nation, purely for selfish, partisan reasons.

The ACLU belongs in Guantanamo.

Don’t worry. It’s only a fad.

Poetic justice…?

New York Times Co. says its second-quarter earnings fell 82 percent from the year-ago quarter boosted by a one-time gain. Meanwhile, print advertising revenue continued to shrink.

Revenue dropped 6 percent to $741.9 million, missing the average Wall Street estimate for $754 million. Ad revenue slipped down 11 percent, hurt mostly by fewer classified ads.

Chief Executive Janet Robinson says business was hurt by the “U.S. economic slowdown and secular forces playing out across the media industry.”

“Secular forces”….

How about biased, sloppy, and possibly treasonous “journalism”?

On Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Iraq so he can witness the war successes, and having to admit his anti-war position was wrong…

With all the controversies about FISA, many believe the US Government is our greatest threat to privacy. Maybe we should look a little closer to home…

YouTube users are clearly upset, as many appear ready to drop the gloves and go toe to toe with Viacom, following a ruling which puts their privacy in doubt.

A ruling last week in the $1 billion copyright lawsuit against YouTube forced the video sharing site to hand over IP addresses, user names, video history, and more from users to Viacom.

Now while intellectual property should be protected, who will be doing the searches? Who will be in charge of the information linked to individual IP addresses? Who will be in charge of protecting the results of these searches (if they even do), and can these people be trusted with YouTube user’s video viewing histories, and are we ready for a new round of telemarketer calls from those who bought that info?

Viacom is rightfully protecting their property, but there is no comparison between the quality of something uploaded to YouTube and a store-bought DVD. If the content is such that people want to own a video, they will buy it. If the content is crap, Viacom should be happy they are at the very least, still receiving promotion. But alas, they don’t see it that way.

Now while Viacom is “vowing” to protect the anonymity of YouTube users, when disks of veterans’ information are left lying around, I’m not so reassured. Obviously, the PR backlash is starting to take a toll.

So, what’s the recourse? Will there be a boycott of all things Viacom? Either way, Viacom has opened the can of worms, and the possibility that other media companies will follow suit and go after YouTube uploaders is pretty good. We are talking about the monkey-see, remake, sampling industry.

What consumers do about this will determine how safe our privacy will be.

To all those on the left who call The Founders, evil, rich, slave-owning, elites, they have no concept or appreciation of what those men plotted, risked, and (in some cases) lost to give us a nation, thus holiday, we celebrate today.

I didn’t see a resemblance…

A Japanese mobile phone firm said today it had pulled a TV advert depicting a monkey as a political candidate amid accusations that it was a racist reference to Barack Obama, who is seeking to become the first black US president.

The ad, for eMobile, shows a monkey in a suit addressing an election rally, surrounded by supporters carrying placards with the word “Change”.

No wonder they lost the war. The Japanese couldn’t see this coming?

We’ve heard Cheney and Halliburton, Bush and Big Oil, Republicans and the Evil Rich.

But how much have the American people heard about Democrats and Countrywide? Maybe they should ask the media as to why.

Maybe we DO need a Fairness Doctrine against the liberal media?
