Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert was fined $100,000 for his remarks about LeBron James.

NBA commissioner David Stern called the comments — in which Gilbert referred to James’ decision to sign with the Miami Heat as “narcissistic” and “cowardly behavior” — “a little bit extreme,” although he did support the owner’s right to express his disappointment.

‘… narcissistic’, ‘cowardly behavior’…? Look who’s talking, Commissioner.

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson responded with some harsh criticism of Gilbert.

In a phone interview with the Associated Press, Jackson said Gilbert’s harsh comments about James “personify a slave master mentality.”

Like Hallmark who went linguine-spine on the NAACP, David Stern has wimped out and reacted to the ‘little bit extreme’ statements of one of our nation’s greatest race-huckers ever. BTW— I watched the Cleveland Cavaliers-Boston Celtics series and LeBron wasn’t LeBron.

If he didn’t quit, it sure looked like it. But to fine Gilbert for calling it like we all saw it (especially after James dissed Cleveland) … does the First Amendment count for nothing?

Let’s not even get started on Stern’s stupidity on responding to anything Jesse Jackson says.

There, I said it. And Commisioner Stern, you can’t fine me.

Could any of us crash (while smashed) the New York Yankee clubhouse, not be arrested, and have the team management come to our defense?

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman made an announcement Sunday saying Lady Gaga is welcome to mingle with players at the Yankee Stadium — just not in the clubhouse, and only if they win, the New York Post reported. In a fairly recent ad campaign by Hanes named “Flight 23“, Michael Jordan has donned a Hitler moustache/goatee lookin’ thing.

Somehow, I don’t think this will catch on too quickly.

Jim Joyce’s perfectly blown call Wednesday night is not an opportunity for commissioner Bud Selig to misuse the powers of his office to change what happened on the field. It is an opening to celebrate what happened after the call that cost Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga the immortality of a perfect game.

Baseball is a game built on blown and make-up calls, expanding and contracting strike zones, etc., but we were all told that the human element is what makes baseball baseball. I appreciate instant replay in football because the play is reviewed right after it happens, not the day after. If Galarraga is awarded the perfect game, how many other players and teams will demand a make-whole?

Enter the second grade element: if you do it for one, you have to do it for everyone.

Take this as justification for full-blown instant replay to be implemented during the regular season. So much for the argument that it may make the game go on longer. As we’ve seen, it’s much better the right call is made right then and there. NFL officiating crews don’t seem to suffer from hurt feelings if they were overwhelmed by the ‘speed of the game’ and they missed something. At the end of the day, they’re either vindicated or gladly corrected.

Armando Galarraga was robbed but this is no reason to open up a can of worms.

Then again, let’s see how the commish reacts.
