For the last few weeks, numerous fans called into sports talk radio shows and gloated how the New England Patriots have failed to win a Super Bowl since the infamous “Spygate” scandal where they were caught videotaping the signal-calling from an opposing bench. However, truth is also inconvenient.

Eighteen years ago, a scout for the Chiefs told me what they did, and he said what you need to do is just take your camera and you go and zoom in on the signal caller and that way you can sync it up. The problem is that if they’re not on the press box side you can’t do it from the press box, you have to do it from the sideline. This was 18 years ago. He [Belichick] was wrong for doing it for the simple reason that the league knew this was going on not just in New England, but around the league.

When Spygate became the national story, I quickly noted how few (like two) coaches around the league condemned the actions of the Patriots. It was almost like the other coaches wanted the whole thing to go away, and with good reason.

As a New England Patriots fan, I’m not all caught up in the Tebowmania. I don’t hate Tim Tebow, but in the days leading up to this game, I consider him the enemy.

That said, I still look at him as marketing product. Consider how many players in all sports point to the sky in homage to the Lord every time they succeed on their field of battle and no one thinks twice about it. How many black players openly thank Jesus and God for their fortunes during interviews.

Now while this isn’t a race thing to us, the left is looking at last year’s Tim Tebow’s Super Bowl “Focus on the Family” anti-abortion commercial and made him an enemy for life. However, instead of pointing to the sky like everyone else, Tebow has successfully (and I believe sincerely) marketed his signature bow and has taken the nation by storm. The media’s action line of “divine intervention” helping his team is an insult to the hard work put in by the Denver Broncos.

Today’s game is going to be decided by men, not faith, and certainly not by the number one fan, God. Tim Tebow is a man just like all the others who’ll take the field tonight. He chooses to pray in public and make some tingle inside, fine.

I and many others want him to lose and badly. That doesn’t make us evil. That’s just the way it should be.

I always thought Canadians (with their politically correct dictates) were more tolerant than us. Imagine the shitstorm if an American sports team’s owner apologized to their fans because their new coach wasn’t bilingual?
