U.S. and Pakistani authorities captured KSM on March 1, 2003 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. KSM stayed mum for months, often answering questions with Koranic chants. Interrogators eventually waterboarded him — for just 90 seconds.

KSM “didn’t resist,” one CIA veteran said in the August 13 issue of The New Yorker. “He sang right away. He cracked real quick.” Another CIA official told ABC News: “KSM lasted the longest under water-boarding, about a minute and a half, but once he broke, it never had to be used again.”

Hopefully, the next time Mr. Wallace interviews someone with the stature of a former vice president, he does his homework first.

President Obama has approved the creation of an elite team of interrogators to question key terrorism suspects, part of a broader effort to revamp U.S. policy on detention and interrogation, senior administration officials said Sunday.

Made up of experts from several intelligence and law enforcement agencies, the interrogation unit will be housed at the FBI but will be overseen by the National Security Council — shifting the center of gravity away from the CIA and giving the White House direct oversight.

Well, THAT’S reassuring.

Ranking member Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) questioned Assistant Attorney General David Kris about his remarks on the appropriateness of administering the Miranda warning to terrorist suspects captured abroad. “It is the administration’s view that there is a serious risk that courts would hold that admission of involuntary statements of the accused in military commission proceedings is unconstitutional,” Kris said in his opening statement.

“Does that infer that these individuals have constitutional rights?” McCain asked Kris.

“Ah, yes,” Kris answered.

Well, that’s the problem with bringing terrorists to trial here in the United States, and who opened up that can of worms?

An amendment to a bill swiftly moving through the US Congress will allow the Obama Administration’s Attorney General to classify Americans as domestic terrorists if they are pro-life, pro-gun and anti-big government.

Impeached Florida judge — now a Democrat Party member of the House of Representatives — Rep. Alcee Hastings introduced what some claim is a disturbing piece of legislation. Hasting’s amendment calls for the Attorney General to have discretion over who is called a terrorist and what groups will be treated as terrorist groups.

“This is arguably one of the worst pieces of legislation to come down the pike in a long, long time. In essence Attorney General Eric Holder — a Bill Clinton retread — will have the discretion to label Americans terrorists. This amendment is part and parcel of the trend in this country to suppress dissent by patriots by calling them domestic terrorists,” political strategist Mike Baker added.

Democrats have that tendency to overreach. Should this happen, 2010 should be a very interesting mid-term election year, that is, if they allow them to happen at all.

Neoconservatives who have come to power in both the Democratic and Republican parties argue that the U.S. must ether confront every evil in every corner of the globe or risk danger at home. I may be a simple man, but with a few exceptions, I think the enemy is already fighting the battle here.

During a recent speech to the American Medical Association (AMA), he said: “What accounts for the bulk of our costs is the nature of the healthcare delivery system.” Translation: “I don’t like this entire US system and plan to trash it.” He then said: ‚”We spend vast amounts of money on things that aren’t necessarily making people any healthier.” Translation: ‚“I know how to manage healthcare better than doctors. Besides, I not only want a piece of this action, I want it ALL!”

There was a piece a couple of weeks ago that asked if Obama was crazy? That’s a bit over the top, but I do believe he’s a narcissist squared as every speech is about him. Regardless of whom is uploading the words into the teleprompter, Barack Obama has to have some common sense. He has to realize the damage he’s doing to our country under the guise of fixing things. If he does and is still moving on, he could be crazy. If he doesn’t know what he’s causing, crazy is still the better option.

North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country. Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii’s main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.

Maybe it’s time for a Korean Missile Czar. That should get matters under control.

Responding to criticism from former President George W. Bush, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said President Obama’s victory last year was a repudiation of Bush’s policies.

In a speech this week, Bush came off the sidelines for the first time since the beginning of the Obama administration to lob criticisms at Obama for his economic policies and his decision to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Gibbs said Thursday that many of those policies were debated during last year’s election.

“We kept score last November, and we won,” Gibbs said.

A CIA spokesman is sharply downplaying Director Leon Panetta ’s recent comments that appear to question whether former Vice President Dick Cheney is hoping for another terrorist attack against the United States.

“The Director does not believe the former Vice President wants an attack,”"He did not say that. He was simply expressing his profound disagreement with the assertion that President Obama’s security policies have made our country less safe. Nor did he question anyone’s motives.” CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a statement to CNN.

Now I don’t want to appear like I’m saying the CIA is intentionally misleading, but Panetta was quoted saying Vice President Cheney “smells some blood in the water on the national security issue” and added,

It’s almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it’s almost as if he’s wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point.

Obviously, Panetta assumed the left would be doing cartwheels, showing him with praise for standing up to Dick Cheney. but with all due respect Director Panetta, that’s not your job.
