‘Farmer’ Ad Makers Left Out Harvey Reference To ‘Church’

PaulHarvey.bannerFor all of you who went ga-ga over the Dodge Ram “God made a farmer” ad, remember who made it what, what their core beliefs probably are, and those they really produced it for.

Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed and rake and disc and plow and plant and tie the fleece and strain the milk and replenish the self-feeder and finish a hard week’s work with a five-mile drive to church.
Paul Harvey, 1978, text left out of Super Bowl ad

That line would’ve been really offensive, right.

The ad makes artful use of the character attributes that spring what a church symbolizes, which is God and His Law, something that too many Americans now are hostile to. This ad was an appeal to nostalgia for a time when far more Americans were interested in paying for their own living than in living at the expense of others by maximizing their government benefits. When we dismiss God and His principles, and indeed turn hostile to anyone who wants to talk about them, we arrive at bailouts today and a European tomorrow. And then we must omit the basis for the very character attributes we attempt to associate with the product we are selling. As Harvey said, God made the farmer, not Marx.

BFD. They had a finite amount of time to get their point across. They did it well. There WAS mention of “god” in that spot.

I tell ya’, sometimes you Christians whining about god not being mentioned remind me of AA’s hollering “Raaaaacist” at every opportunity.

From Iowa, with love, pride and gratitude to Dodge.

The moonbats are all up in arms that it was the worst commercial. I thought it was the best and on point.

Church or God is offensive to our king, who believes he is our omniscient messiah bringing us the blessings of his god, Marx.

Good catch, I totally missed that. Yes, a very sad commentary that it would be omitted.

      Same here. I agree completely.

I was just really surprised to hear the word “God” mentioned at all.
