It is one thing to show up and make promises that don’t mean life or death.  When you don’t deliver on basic needs to keep alive people will remember.

Be sure to check for union cards on all the rescue workers.

At this time it is the mostly volunteer organizations that carry most of the burden and deserve the most praise, get the least praise, but are content with their accomplishments and could care less if they got an award or other recognition.

My parents both served in the army in WWII.  My mom saw the behavior of the Red Cross that sold coffee, etc. to returning soldiers.  She told me to never give to the Red Cross.  She never passed a Salvation Army bell ringer without dropping at least a few coins in the pot.  Over the years all the PC “charities” have had scandals.

Funny you mention that about the Red Cross.  When I was a small child, we had a flood in our neighborhood and the Red Cross appeared.  My mother and father said never to give to the Red Cross as they later sent bills to the folks they helped!  Hopefully they’ve changed over the decades, but I will always remember that just like you do.

I wonder if the supplies Chuck promised ever showed up? Something tells me that for him, out of sight, out of mind.

I’m sure Chuckie really feels their pain.

Americans are traditionally pioneers, entrepreneurs, and largely self-sufficient.

Still, it could be worse.  They could be attacking the people who are there to help them.
