    Maybe if Rodriguez hadn’t gone to the neighbour’s with a video camera and a gun this all may have been avoided.

    I’ve followed this, and it’s evident that Rodriguez manufactured a confrontation. The nonsense he spouted off to the police dispatcher – “my life is in danger now”, “these people are going to go try and kill me”, and “I’m standing my ground here” – was intended to obfuscate the fact that he provoked the incident and was the one with a gun.

    The [Texas Castle Doctrine] law also says a person using force can’t provoke the attacker or be involved in criminal activity at the time.

    Rodriguez provoked the confrontation with malice aforethought (the video camera and gun demonstrate that); he deserves what he got.

    Just a quick note here, we in Eastern Washington, Southern Idaho, and Eastern Oregon are aware that the virus is still around, has been, probably always will be.  We thoroughly brief our Scouts when they go on campouts to these areas and tell ‘em to LEAVE THE CRITTERS ALONE and report all bites immediately.

    This was a rancher that should’ve known better, poor guy.  I hope he pulls through.
