Brain bleach! Aaaaaack!
Thanks a lot, Bob. now I have to clean the vomit off of my keyboard. Bleeeeech.
I don’t feel safe with a government that hires according to race and disability!
When I think of how my father, who at age 26 signed up to the fight the nazis–a regime who cataloged racial identity, it makes me sick to my stomach to see what has become of this country.
I operate my own business providing design and image services to organizations. I’m a white straight male over 50. When you visit a corporate website these days and investigate vendor relations, it’s very common to see a huge list of racial, gender, and protected types who are invited to apply. This list includes everyone except me.
So, we’re back to “no Irish need apply”?
The correct response to allegations of discrimination would be an ex post facto review when there is probable cause. The current policy is equivalent to presumption of guilt. This is in stark contrast to the premise for our justice system where there is a presumption of innocence. This conflict is one of the causal factors for progressive corruption.
Also, a selective rule of law, or selective anything for arbitrary reasons, is an excellent means to breed resentment. Supposedly, the policy and their actions are about preserving civil and human rights, but they follow a haphazard and demonstrably hazardous path to realizing an otherwise worthy goal.
Actually, the *correct* public/legal response to allegations of discrimination by private actors is “And?” or “So?”
So, we’re back to “no Irish need apply”?
Except that that *never* happened.
