Hear, hear!
Ann Coulter’s latest column is a must-read.
Although I doubt it will do any good with most of ya, war is not often a perfect situation, many times we must do things that are not seemingly the “best” or the way we would want things to be, but do so anyway because the only other alternative is to lose the entire war over a single battle…

ANY republican would be a far better situation than 4 more years of the current regime.
As this presidential campaign heats up, I am amazed to learn that many of the political commentators I read (or used to read) aren’t as smart as I thought they were. I see many of the East Coast/Ivy League Republicans are telling us that we need to eat our peas and just accept that Romney is the nominee. Why? Could they please explain to me how they think that a guy who can’t get over 25% of his own party to support him is going to get 51% of the entire country to vote for him. There is nothing to excite anyone about him. He stands for nothing. He offers nothing. He is just a boring guy who can stand behind a podium and look like the generic president in a movie or TV show. Okay, you can hope that the backlash against Obama is so big that people will vote for a mop just to get rid of him, but I wouldn’t bet the life of our country on that.
Romney is McCain 2.0. The folks pushing Romney are the same geniuses that thought Dole was “electable;” the same group that thought Reagan was too radical and that Ford was the better candidate. Why do they keep trotting out these robots and then act shocked when they lose to Democrats who are more charismatic, or at the very least have a personality?
I like Ann Coulter … for the most part. However, she was wrong about Chris Christie and she is wrong about Romney. Ann says, “Romney is not going to get to the White House and announce, ‘The first thing I’m going to do is implement that fantastic national health care plan signed by my pal, Barack!’” How do we know that? He has done that with Social Security. In the past he said that Social Security needed major reform and that if it was a private enterprise, it would be criminal. However, when Perry called it a Ponzi scheme, he flipped and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with Social Security and we should leave it alone.
And that’s the problem with Romney. If you elect him, you won’t know which version of him you are going to get. Are we going to get Liberal Romney as seen here: http://youtu.be/7OQoBxZZPqU ? Or are we going to get Romney Version 2008 when he was Conservative Guy? Or are we actually going to get the current version—Centrist Man?
He says that once elected he is going to issue an ObamaCare waiver for all 50 states. Is that going to be a waiver for just the states or does that include all the businesses and individuals as well? If it is only for the states, that isn’t going to help that much and if it is for everyone then you have a president negating a law by fiat which isn’t very constitutional.
And how can we be sure that he would support repealing the ObamaCare? He may decide just as he did with Social Security, that it is okay for the most part and just needs a little tweaking.
If Romney is the candidate, the Obama campaign will have no problem taking him down. First they will use all the video clips like the one in the video I linked to above to show that Romney is exactly like Obama except for his skin color. Thus the only reason someone would vote for Romney over Obama is because they are racist and will do anything to get a black man out of the White House. This will mean that Romney will have to go on the defensive. Just as he went overboard in the governor’s race to show he was not a conservative, he will do the opposite to prove he is not a liberal. Then the Obama machine with the full cooperation of the press will portray him as a “Right Wing Nut” and a danger to the country. Either way, Romney has no real strengths of his own to counter either of these attacks.
In any case, chances are the press will portray any Republican nominee as a far Right Wing Nut. So rather than pick some milquetoast candidate in hopes of avoiding this, why not pick a real “Right Wing Nut” and show the country that a Right Wing Nut is exactly what we need right now.
I am not being a Purist by not wanting Romney as the nominee—I am being a realist. We need a real leader with real skills to lead this country. Romney doesn’t lead, he concedes. In addition to this, we are still dealing with reality TV, Facebook, Twitter, attracted by bright shiny objects electorate who voted by 52% to elect the cool guy with no qualifications. Thus, we need a leader who also has charisma. Romney doesn’t. Romney cannot win against the rock star president. If Romney is the nominee, Obama wins.
As for Ann’s question: “where were you conservative purists when Republicans were nominating Waterboarding-Is-Torture-Jerry-Falwell-Is-an-Agent-of-Intolerance-My-Good-Friend-Teddy-Kennedy-Amnesty-for-Illegals John McCain-Feingold for president?” We were in the half of the country whose vote didn’t count in the last primary process because all the other candidates had been pressured to withdraw before we ever got to vote. That’s where.
We aren’t going to sit back this time and let the RINOs pick this one.
@eNeecie – I’m with you! It’s obvious that the GOP “in the know” folks have a stiffie for Romney, but that they’re aiming to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory with this guy! Maybe we should start an Occupy GOP: we are the 75% (who want damn near anybody but Romney)!
Wass-schultz – Does anyone buy the “it’s just like the old poll tax to require ID” saw anymore? I mean really?! Who doesn’t have some sort of ID? These same people that the democraps seem to think are too pitiful and/or stupid to have ID are required to have ID to sign up for the various entitlements that they’re paid off with. Can we just be done with this? It’s gone beyond a lie to just stupid.
Who’s lazy?! – Hey, pResident Vacations-alot, people who live in glass white houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Gingrich-Cain ticket – I’ve got mixed feelings about Newt. Yeah, he’s a smart guy, good with the press, has some balls. But he is a career politician through-and-through. I’m afraid that we’ll still end up with Democrat-lite policies.
Ron Paul calendar – Bob, you’ve got a point about the caliber of feminine presentation here as opposed to the average Democratic group. Ron Paul is another one that just needs to shut up and go back home. However, on the up-side for Ron, at least he worked for his living for a while before changing careers to be a politician. I still think he’s nuttier than an out-house owl.
@PB-in-AL I love your Occupy the GOP idea! and I AM the 75%
