My hubby wrote an email to FNC yesterday, letting them know whenever we are watching FNC and Geraldo comes on, we change the tv channel to anything else. He’s just another left whining idiot!
I remember watching live a few years ago when Geraldo was doing hurricane coverage right from the shoreline and a huge wave knocked him over and dragged him out a bit. I was thinking that the sea might finally claim him, but, alas, it was not to be.

Actually, this doesn’t bother me that much. According to the article, she comes from a family of open water swimmers. She didn’t swim solo. Her mother and a family friend swam in the water with her, her father kayaked beside them, and her brothers were along side in a boat. The strait of the Golden Gate is a little over a mile, and she had previously completed the Tiburon Mile, an open water swim in the San Francisco Bay. Granted, the Golden Gate is a bit more treacherous stretch of water because of the currents, but she appeared to be surrounded at all times by those who could come to her aid immediately.
The key thing here is that she was well trained and prepared for this attempt, and had a ring of safety and trained adult supervisors around her at all times. I understand that even the Special Olympics has an open water competition for the Tiburon Mile. My little sister swam for quite a few years in the Special Olympics (in the pool, not open water), and I know that some of these folks can be impressive atheletes. With the proper training, attitude, and safety considerations, open water swimming can be a positive endeavor.
Sadly, though, I would not be surprised to soon read about a six year-old with less responsible parents who was swept away while trying to break this seven year-old’s record of youngest to swim the Golden Gate strait.
Since that show of his where he got hit on the beak with a chair during a Klan melee, Geraldo (Jerry Rivers?) hasn’t been worth a shit.
