@IAmSoSmart is not very happy with my earlier post on Bachmann’s screw up.
I was going to let it go until he decided to bring my dead grandmother into the conversation.
As most of you know I am harsh on our own when they screw up, not because I want to carry water for Democrats but because I hold our candidates to a higher standard, and I especially expect more from presidential candidates. If Mr. @IAmSoSmart thinks my calling Michele Bachmann a bonehead for a really dumb gaffe is bad, take a look at what the Democrats and late night talk show hosts (same thing) will be saying for the next few weeks.
As I wrote earlier, it’s best to speak in public only what you know for sure. How do I know this? I’m going to stick my neck out on this one but I’ll bet @IAmSoSmart has not run for public office. Maybe he has.
I have.
I know what it’s like to speak in front of groups of people and debate other candidates and I’m sorry, I would never say something I wasn’t sure of during a campaign. That’s sheer lunacy. You are not only giving your opponent(s) the ammunition, you’re also giving them the gun.
And as I also Tweeted back to @IAmSoSmart, I will not treat Michele Bachmann any less differently as I have any other Republican who screws up. I especially won’t ease up off her because she’s a woman. If she is to be our next president, then she needs to act the part, and take the punches when she falters.
The Dems punch to injure. I punch so ours get stronger.

I agree. We should learn from our mistakes. The longevity of the lesson should be directly proportional with the severity of the mistake and the role of the individual in society.
With a handle like "I am so smart" — I really have trouble believing they are a conservative, anyway…

I'm with you there Machine, I also find it difficult to take such a "handle" seriously.
The lady needs that "titanium spine" I saw her boast about. If this little episode gives her pause, we'll know what we need to about her ability to take heat as a Republican nominee.
I believe she'll prove to have the goods.
Damn right, Bob.
Sometimes our friends are our harshest critics, simply because they know us better than anyone else, and have the highest expectations. That helps us to strive to be the best that we can be… and it’s hard to find fault with that.
Ummm, because she screwed up? Hey, she can take the heat and the responsibility, "IAmSoSmart". If you don't want to follow B&R, don't let the screen door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!
Absolutely, Bob. You do political commentary, not PR for any party. Like Machine, I find the handle a little strange. And that grandmother comment was really bizarre.
yes, she messed up, she'll be more careful next time
Bob, you are spot on. I, too, have run for office and know what it's like to be asked questions to which I didn't know the answer. My usual response was that I would research it and get back to them, but I NEVER, EVER was boneheaded enough to say stuff I didn't know to be true. You are correct – that's sheer lunacy, bordering on chronic mental illness. What Anthony Weiner did was mental illness – to come out and give a cockamamie story like "I was hacked" demonstrates to me the creep is completely off-kilter.
