I am so sick of these protests to “raise awareness” of something. What does that do?! NOTHING. Why do we have all these ribbons and protests to raise awareness of an issue. Is that going to bring some magic karma and fix it. No, it’s just an excuse to get attention.
So some Police chief says something (which is not really that outrageous) in Canada and we’re suppose to care. What does that have to do with Dallas? Is there some pending legal case where the victim is being blamed? Is this an on going problem? I don’t think so. Besides, he didn’t say that if you get raped that it is your fault because of what you were wearing. He said, “If you don’t want to be raped, you should avoid dressing like sluts.” Isn’t that like, if you don’t want to get charged by a bull, don’t wave a red flag in its face. And was that all he said? I suspect that wasn’t his entire speech. There are lots of things you can do to avoid being raped. I would add: if you are going drinking stay in a group of friends you trust, don’t get drunk in a strange place or with people you just met, do not go to any secluded place with someone you just met, try not to stay out after midnight if you are driving alone, if you are walking at night stay in well lit open areas and if you have to walk in a parking lot walk in middle of the lanes and not among the cars, but more importantly if you live alone get a big dog and a bigger gun. And that’s just a partial list. There’s lots of advice you could give women and not dressing like a slut when you are going out alone is not a bad one.
But this was not about rape awareness. This was about embracing one’s inner sluttiness. They said they wanted people to respect them regardless of how they dress. Why should anyone respect them more than they respect themselves? What I found really pathetic were the girls who didn’t even bother to dress like a slut, but just took their shirt off and walked around in their tacky bras.
Now if they really wanted to do something, why not have a “slut walk” protesting Sharia Law. But I guess that would require some courage.
Rape is not about how you dress, it is about power over another person. It is also about how a rapist is a moral deviant and a wussie, male or female. That said, people should dress less like a slut and more like ladies and gentlemen. We (as a people in general) are setting horrible examples for our children.
I agree. Clothing, in addition to serving an explicit functional purpose, is designed to equalize the field. Humans are sensual creatures, and there is no value in claiming we are not influenced by appearance. With that in mind, we should expect members of society to take reasonable steps to avoid primary judgment of incidental features. There is a time and place for everything. It is society’s place to delineate those divisions through the process of normalization for tolerable behaviors, and through the law for other behaviors.
As for rape, that is a deviant behavior following from the involuntary exploitation of another individual, which cannot be justified under any circumstance. There is no compromise where that behavior should ever be condoned or moderated (e.g., the not “rape-rape” excuse). We are pursuing an enlightened order, not the primitive secular order.
Despite some people’s claim to the contrary, we are incapable of distinguishing between origin and expression. This would suggest that we have an option of regarding each other as more than merely the physical, irrespective of the whims presented by the instant gratification crowd and the purveyors of sexual revolution. There is an inescapable natural order, but it does not prevent a pursuit of an enlightened order, where the two are mutually compatible.
The participants in the “Slut Walk” confirm that some people are incapable of distinguishing between cause and effect. In their effort to raise “awareness”, they are subverting and perverting the process of normalization. Well, maybe that it is their intention. Just as it was the intention to do the same by those who advanced the sexual revolution.
The old order, where involuntary exploitation was the rule, should be rejected with prejudice. People should know their proper role, and proper behavior, in society. This applies equally to women, as well as men.
OK, I’m officially confused. Were these gals gay or straight? Or both?
Were they protesting or advertising?
Really? This is political action – walking the streets in your bra? Back in the 60s the ladies just peeled them off and burned them. Today they all have very saggy breasts.
Pssst! Iron Mike – that’s ’cause the ladies are OLDER now.
Hate to break it to ya…

“They lost me with “Hey hey, ho ho…” ”
how about just..”ho ho..ho..ho”…?
one thing’s for sure, I spent MY 4/23 (my birthday) a WHOLE lot better than those people in the video..
“This is still a really prevailing concept and idea in our society that our apparel dictates the kind of treatment we receive and it dictates the respect that we receive.”
I call that “The Real World.” You will find that it’s not just in our society as well. But please; go about your hey hos and feel empowered if it works for you.
Curiously enough, there is also a prevailing concept and idea in our society that [circumstantially] our personal hygiene dictates the kind of treatment we receive and it dictates the respect that we receive.
It’s like shooting simian derivatives trapped in a tree. I think a banana will be sufficient to knock some sense into them.
In a first, women surpass men in advanced degrees
This will not do. It will not do at all. The balance of power has shifted. It was just a matter of time before management screwed up, again.
It’s time for a men’s movement: masculinism. Burn your underwear, men. Are you with me?
Dunno about you, n.n, but I’d have to get a Hazardous Waste Disposal Incineration Waiver to burn MY undies.
No way!!
