This president has demonstrated a commitment to transparency and openness that is greater than any administration has shown in the past, and he’s been committed to that since he ran for President and he’s taken a significant number of measures to demonstrate that.
— Jay Carney, White House press secretary

My guess is it’s either from ‘I Love Lucy’ when Tennessee Ernie Ford (‘Cousin Ernie’) was a guest, or from his own TV show. . . .
Well, The Judegs will give it to you. It’s from the Tennessee Ernie Ford Show, which came on back in 1956 to 1961:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048904/
Watched it in Black and White. Waaaaaay back when.
TOLD you I’m ancient…
Igor
Thank you, judges – bless your lil’ pea-pickin’ hearts! I couldn’t remember the entire episode of ‘Lucy’ when he guest starred, but I do remember that he also had his own show for a while, so I figured it may have come from that.
I couldn’t find it on YouTube, but one of the funniest song segments from “I Love Lucy” was when Lucy, Ricky, Fred & Ethel dressed up in country garb (overalls for Ricky & Fred, and Lucy & Ethel in jumper dresses) and joined with Ernie for a rendition of “Y’all Come”. If you can find that episode, it is absolutely priceless.
And when Ernie guest starred on ‘I Love Lucy,’ he portrayed a country bumpkin, backwoods, hayseed, which means he had (has) more sense than our current President and many around him.

Men will file a discrimination suit against the federal and state governments, claiming that they are underrepresented in higher education due to progressive policies.
There’s also the inequitable policies which favor a mother over a father in cases of child custody.
While there are less men in the world than women, if they want to escalate the confrontation, then we should accommodate them while we are still young enough to pursue the fight for individual dignity. Either that, or women should be subject to mandatory “sensitivity training”.
Round and round we go, with no progress to show. That is cyclical regression.
Sarah Palin Is Definitely Not Done Whining About the Press
Well, that’s odd. Both Jennifer “la cabrona” Lopez and Whoopi “not rape-rape” Goldberg were rewarded for soiling the women’s movement. Maybe that’s the answer. Palin needs to mock female dignity, not promote it.
No. Wait. That’s not quite right. In a selective reality, you are damned if you do, and damned if you don’t, unless you are controlling perception. So, Palin’s problem is one of limited and/or ineffective marketing. That verdict remains to be confirmed by the market, but that would be a reasonable conclusion based on the two examples provided above.
Detroit Considers 45 Charter Schools
It took hundreds of thousands leaving the city before politicians got it
The people have the power, if they are not afraid to use it. In all cases, the market rules.
Congratulations to the people of Detroit for finally proclaiming an ultimatum to their corrupt leaders.
Tea party to storm Capitol for ‘gut check’
Schumer and Reid are blaming the Tea Party for the budget mess. Not a smart (or honest) move
I think Schumer and Reid need to review history. Individuals of dignity accept limited involuntary exploitation to promote the general welfare, but not when it is coupled with waste, fraud, abuse, and the inevitable progressive corruption.
The civil servants need to get their house in order or they should be replaced with individuals of integrity (for so long as they remain faithful to their oath in service to the people).
re: Jennifer “la cabrona” Lopez and Whoopi “not rape-rape” Goldberg
Sarah Palin has a very special place in the liberal/progressive’s heart. From the beginning, they, and pedantic “conservatives”, have gone out of their way to denigrate her character and intelligence. They did this when she was a civil servant, and they continue today when she is a private citizen.
There are only two reasonable explanations for their obsession with her. They are either promoting her candidacy or are threatened by her very existence. She has never ceased to be marked for their attacks and denigratory rhetoric.
She is truly inspiring to both people who respect and revile her. The passion exhibited in the latter case is quite odd and its source is perplexing.
Wisconsin State Employees Union, AFSCME Council 24, threatens to boycott businesses that don’t put up window signs supporting the union.
The civil servants are threatening to extort the taxpayers, that is to say Americans in the private sector, who still compose the great majority of Americans. I hope these public unions and their members do not represent any significant number of our unelected civil servants — the bureaucracy.
So much for the democratic process. I guess Democrats don’t believe in democratic principles. They certainly show no favor for our Constitution.
And if now, who will sue next?
Still women.
OMG! There’s Discrimination in the Modeling Industry!
(via: The Politics of Beauty)
Even if such a policy were possible to administer fairly, which it is not, even if it did some good, which it does not, it is always open to the charge of hypocrisy, for there is no difference in principle between the characteristics which are presently protected (race, gender, nationality) and those that are not (height, weight, intelligence, beauty). And further, the characteristics we have so far considered are only the tip of the iceberg of those upon which people discriminate.
The exploitation of incidental features for profit is one of many ways that the seeds of division are sewn.
They cannot simultaneously deny God, nature, and the market.
It’s amazing how complicated the most simplest of matters can become. Next we will be criticized for our love interests, friends, and acquaintances.
Oh, wait, we have already been challenged for the makeup of our circle of friends and acquaintances. Well, that didn’t take long at all. I guess freedom of association is neither “liberal” nor “progressive”.
Judge Sumi Rules Budget Repair Bill Not In Effect
I know the left doesn’t believe in separation of cult and state, but what of the separation of powers in our government?
Would Republicans have been treated so favorably, had they left DC when Obama and his Democrats were preaching the merits of selective involuntary exploitation?
Is it just taxpayers who are presumed to have no standing when coerced to accept the “medical services insurance reform” slush fund and similar legislation, regulations, and executive orders?
This selective reality cult is becoming quite tiresome.
Washington State Union Battles Heated, But Lack Outrage Seen in Wisconsin
“They (the unions) know their friends are going to take care of them,” says Kirby Wilbur. “If we had a Republican governor seriously looking at this issue objectively and saying where we could make more concessions, you would have union members in the street.”
Liberals accepting promissory notes from their Democrat representatives. I guess that’s all right, so long as someone else will eventually be forced — by penalty of law — to fund their ambitions.
Union leaders don’t necessarily disagree, but they say the biggest reason there has been no protest in Olympia is the governor is not going after their collective bargaining rights.
In the private sector, unions enforce structural inequality in the labor market. While in the public sector, they are effectively the fourth branch of government, the interlopers between citizens and their elected representatives. They are an unconstitutional corporation which is funded through involuntary exploitation.
It’s good to be the civil servant.
