I’ve tossed up many catch phrases about the left, like “Liberal policies are so wonderful, they have to force you to use them”, etc. Here’s a good one for today….
When people ask me why I moved from being a liberal to being a conservative, my single-word answer is Detroit. The liberal policies which I hoped would make Detroit something like heaven have made it instead something more like hell.

Gee, Michael, how long did it take for you to remove your head from your posterior? It took me ’til about age 18 to realize we were going to hell in a handbasket thanks to Liberal policies, and after I got out of the Military at age 22 and saw that Welfare was now Entitlement, I realized just how far down the slippery slope we had gone. That was in ’76.
Needless to say, I have been howling in the wilderness for about 20+ years about Dumbocrats…

I have to give kudos to Barone for switching. The hardest thing in the world is to admit when you’ve been wrong. This is why liberals always double down on the stupid. They lie to themselves more than they lie to anyone else.
Jewels, I hate it when you’re right. Sigh. He does deserve some kudos indeed. Probably was College that led him down the garden path, but as you said, he does deserve consideration for waking up.

Ditto on Barone being better late than never. Most of the time, however, liberals don’t switch like Barone – they either remain in denial that their policies fail, OR, they demand waivers from the knuckleheaded policies they forcibly impose on the rest of us.
