It makes one wonder how the old timers survived the game.
N.F.L. Moves Kickoffs to the 35
Then, what’s the point of a kickoff at all?
NFL Approves Rule Change to Review All Scoring Plays With Instant Replay
It’s not going to be about accuracy: it’ll be about a couple more commercials
Even though it was short-lived, one of the fun parts of the XFL was no fair catches. I guess they had tougher players than the NFL.

Next: Tutus and toe shoes?
Really! Why don’t they just give the winner of the coin toss, the option of being first on offense, beginning at their own 20? Then the opposing team could start on their own 20, after each score?
Kickoffs have been rendered obsolete, An NFL kicker unable to clear the end zone from the 35, would probably have never made the roster.
The ultimate safety rule for the NFL: Don’t play.
Absolutely pathetic.

Sigh…there goes Sproles from my fantasy keeper league. His returns always gave me the extra points I needed. I see Hester getting used more as a punt returner/wide receiver now too. Guess if a team is down with under a minute to go will be the only time they try to return it. Wonder if they’ll go to a time out box like hockey.
damn it..
funny they’re moving the kickoff to the 35? might as well be a PUNT!!
also, speaking of the XFL, my uncle still has an XFL football in pretty damn good shape, as a collector’s item
Not to mention the XFL is the reason for that cable cam that’s used in every game.
I disagree about no fair catches. Back in the 80′s, the Giants had a running back/punt returner named Leon Bright. He was nothing special but he had a streak of dozens of punt returns with no fair catches. One game against the Lions, he was clocked on an illegal early hit by Leonard Thompson. I have no idea why I remember this. Anyway, Bright was carted off the field and when he came back he was never the same player. He started to call for fair catches.
Ahhh the XFL, if only Vince McMahon had found a cable tv company to show the games. I just don’t get the media hatered for Vince and WWE, he has been a hugely successful businessman and created tons of entertainment for millions of people. It is no big secret its fake but its entertaining and since it was what my Dad and I used to watch when I was a kid, and still today when I go home to visit my Dad we will sit and watch. The XFL was awesome and I remember watching NBC Sports guys in LA trash the XFL when the games were being shown on NBC and being confused. Older now I still don’t get why you would try to trash your own TV deal. Vince should bring it back on USA or another cable network and give us some football for next season and give the NFL some competition…
