Claire McCaskill’s reputation took perhaps its biggest hit in her nearly five years in the U.S. Senate on Monday when she admitted that she hadn’t paid personal property taxes on her private aircraft. This from a woman who once investigated tax scofflaws as Missouri’s state auditor.
In a conference call with reporters yesterday, McCaskill described her failure to register the plane with the St. Louis County revenue department a “mistake” and said she had sent the county a check for $287,000 in back taxes covering the past four years.
We’re called a liar while politicians “mispoke”. We’re called thieves and criminals while politicians make a “mistake”. Republicans are held out to ridicule while Democrat affiliations are withheld. See how this works?

Some pigs are more equal than others. This White female swine demands the same exemptions from taxes as that Black male swine, Rangel, received.
So, McCaskill hopes to pull a Rangel, or a Kerry, or a Geithner. At least she doesn’t hide her wealth in the freezer. Just one of a long line of fine Democrat politicians. For them, progressive corruption is the rule, not the exception.
Is there really any difference between “main street” and Wall Street”? Each of them speculate at our expense. I hope main street is paying attention to the deception. At least the latter does not maintain a pretense of representing a higher moral ground.
