The Chicago Way: More Health Care Waivers

If this health care law that the president and the Democrats pushed on us is so great, why do certain people (especially those who donated to the president’s campaign and strong-armed for “reform”) keep getting waivers so they don’t have to abide by it?

Three local chapters of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), whose political action committee spent $27 million supporting Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, have received temporary waivers from a provision in the Obamacare law.

The three SEIU chapters include the Local 25 in Obama’s hometown of Chicago.

So far, the Obama administration has issued waivers to 222 entities, including businesses, unions and charitable organizations. Of that total, 45 were labor organizations.

This do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do stuff is really going to come back and bite the president because few of us made the kind of protection money (contributions) to his campaign that would entitle us to any kind of special treatment. It’s so in our face now, it’s past insulting.

This question can’t be answered because the basic premise of it is wrong. The health care law that the President and the Democrats pushed on us isn’t so great. It’s too expensive, gives insurance companies reasons (some justified, some not) to raise premiums, lowers the quality of care, provides in Ponzi-scheme manner that it will be paid for (by us, of course) over 10 years, while providing only 6 years of coverage, provides funding for abortions, covers illegals, is the first step towards a single-payer (socialist) system and more.

So . . . . is it any wonder so many of Obama’s cronies are seeking waivers from this monstrosity? Some of us are more equal than others, it seems.

The “health care reform” does not include accountability for waste, fraud, and abuse. It turns a blind eye to the tens of millions of illegal aliens (I wonder if that’s why they advocate for the sexual revolution and abortion). With the progressive number of waivers issued, it will be the rest of us who will pick up the slack. Not unlike what already happens with the other social programs.

They didn’t read the Bill either before it was passed, but not because it was unavailable, but because they are true believers. Eventually, the lemmings will all head in the “promised” direction. You cannot use logic with the illogical. The Chicago way, along with the Illinois way, have sown a choking progressive variant of kudzu which the Grim Economic Reaper will cut down with his bankruptcy sickle.

Tallyman, it is a matter of faith for them. They prostrate themselves before their mortal gods. They sacrifice virgin life to appease their gods’ sadistic desires. Their gods respond with progressive redistributive change in exchange for their individual dignity.

n.n, call the Progressive’s God for whom he really is: Satan, the Father of Lies.

I’m not a believer, but the evidence (and lack thereof), though circumstantial, demands that I remain open to the possibility.

They do have a faith. We all have faith in something in order to live in this world. Theirs is just not commonly known and tends to be inconsistent, which is at least one reason why it should be rejected as a model to guide development.

Maybe you’re right, and there is a supernatural influence that pervades this world.

Anyway, I guess I’m just hedging my bet.

Hey, I just noticed there is a live comment preview below. How cool is that! Only one problem, it doesn’t correctly reproduce whitespace, or at least not newlines. Still, it will help prevent some confusing musings. Thanks, Bob.

As Blinky said, “We have to pass it so that we can find out what is in it.” The plan includes a rule that says you can’t spend more than 15% on admin fees by non-profits and 25% by for profit for fees and profits. We know from where they pulled these percentages. All the waivers are because of this clause. Certainly there are other clauses that haven’t gone into effect that will require adjustment. Even the AARP had to get a waiver. Their costs are so high, in part, because their president makes about $1.4M.

Vote ObamaCare out even if the courts agree with the states and reject the law. If they then start over and try to pass another law to replace it with something “well thought out” they will come to understand that it is too complicated even for all those geniuses. HillaryCare was defeated for that reason.
