We saw it during the Clinton era. Be it Bill or Hillary on the stand, “I don’t recall” was the response we heard about the most. It was convenient and left little room for further rebuttal. It worked.
Colorado state Sen. Suzanne Williams, D-Aurora, told troopers investigating a fatal crash near Amarillo, Texas, that she has no memory of the circumstances leading to the crash.
One thing Senator Williams does seem to remember: it’s still kind of all about her.
“I cannot express the horror, sadness and grief I feel for an accident that will change forever the lives of a young family. It is a burden I will carry with me for the rest of my life,” Williams said in a prepared statement.
Texas Trooper Gabriel Medrano said troopers have not yet filed charges but are still investigating the accident. “She doesn’t remember what happened in the crash,” Medrano said. He said investigators are hoping that her memory will come back to her in a few days when the trauma of what happened subsides.
My guess is that’ll all depend on the conclusion of the investigation and the seriousness of the charges, if any. If there was anything diverting her attention from the road at the time of the accident, she just may not ever remember the accident again and punishing her just wouldn’t be fair, right?
Well, it did happen in Texas and not Colorado. That may determine the outcome.

Good point, Lazarus. A TX judge and prosecutor won’t be beholden to a CO State Senator, on things like salary, budget & funding. Having no memory of the incident at least raises a suspicion of being impaired in some way, perhaps drugs and/or alcohol. I hope they took a blood sample from immediately afterward.
