cocaine was the first modern “wonder-drug”. it was an active ingredient in nearly every “cure” at the time, including the thousands of “mother’s little helpers” being sold. If memory serves, it was outlawed for most uses (excepting dental), sale and possession in 1919. Before then anyone could walk into a drug store store and buy the pure shit.
