Fox Slams NPR, Hires Juan

This will leave a mark.

Fox News moved swiftly to turn the controversy over Juan Williams’s firing to its advantage, offering him an expanded role and a new three-year contract Thursday morning in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, Matea Gold reports.

Roger Ailes took a jab at NPR in the process.

“Juan has been a staunch defender of liberal viewpoints since his tenure began at Fox News in 1997,”
he said in a statement. “He’s an honest man whose freedom of speech is protected by Fox News on a daily basis.”

I wonder what Mara Liasson’s going to say next time she’s on Special Report…?

I don’t always agree with Mr. Williams, but at the end of the day he is entitled to his own opinion. What NPR did proves the point of liberals: Free Speech is protected as long as you see things their way.

  2. Nicolas says:

Bob, any thought if Juan will ever see the conservative light?

  3. SFJ says:

Bob…maybe you can find it. I’m looking for the coverage of the Rev’s Jackson and Sharpton’s outrage and demonstrations against NPR for the racist firing of a man of color. I can’t find it anywhere so it must be a teabagger conspiracy to cover this up.

  4. n.n says:

I think we should conduct an investigation of the racist elements at NPR. It is clear that they have their preferred race, or maybe it is a preferred ideology. I don’t know which it is. Unfortunately, until the liberals/progressives reveal their true nature, stop hiding behind admonitions of prejudice, selective reality, and the destruction of emergent human life (i.e., pro-choice), then we may never know their true principles.

Oh, and in the spirit of enlightened communication… No Pressure!!!

  5. Nicolas says:

Karl Rove had a hell of a zinger today for NPR – “National Progressive Radio”. Laura Ingraham had a hell of a zinger for Terry Gross’ show “Fresh Air” – “Stale Air”

    LOVE IT!!

  6. gagblue says:

Yep, Nicolas, Rove & Ingraham’s zingers were great! Juan Williams is a liberal, and I very often find myself disagreeing with him, but I respect him for the simple fact that he is a straight-up guy, unafraid to defend his views, appear on O’Reilly & state his opinions, and most importantly, he is honest about being a liberal – he doesn’t try to spin, deceive, or hide it, like many, if not most, liberals. He is also a likable fellow who can disagree without being disagreeable. As O’Reilly said tonight, NPR will rue the day!
Yank NPR’s public funding, and watch them go down the tube, just like (Hot)AirAmerica. How Maddow, Matthews, Olbermann, Schulz and other obnoxious blowhards on MessNBC still have shows is beyond me.

First they came for Jimmy the Greek, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Greek sports commentator.
Then they came for Dan Rather, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a LIAR.
Then they came for Don Imus, and I did not speak out —
Because I did not look like an old lesbian.
Then they came for me, and there was no left to speak for me.

  9. Lazarus Long says:

A Conservative is a Liberal who has been mugged. Has Mr. Williams been mugged by NPR?

  10. Trishmac says:

    Oh Machine I love that!
And Lazarus, I believe he has!

  11. LFJ says:

I am actually in Doug Lambourn’s district (CO) and he has been working a bill for a while to defund NPR. Just called his office to voice my support, they said they are getting a flood of calls 99% of which are positive.

Another case of liberals eating their own.

  12. Jewels says:

Not at surprising that conservatives would be the ones to most vociferously defend Mr. Williams, despite our ideological differences.

When Mr. Williams is the most “conservative” member of their staff, you have to wonder how NPR manages to convince themselves of their own so-called “standards”.
