Clearly an illustration of where we are and where we were (and could be)….

This is not something that we’re just doing to grow government. We’re doing this because this is what the best minds tell us needs to be done.
— President Barack Obama, House Democratic retreat in Williamsburg, Va., pressing for passage of his stimulus plan, February 2009Anytime you and I question the schemes of the do-gooders, we’re denounced as being against their humanitarian goals. They say we’re always “against” things—we’re never “for” anything. Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.
— President Ronald Reagan, speech to the American people, October 1964
President Reagan sure had a way with words (and with fiscal policy), and is Barack Obama exhibiting Einstein’s definition of insanity?

True insanity is voting Dumbocratic and expecting things to get better, Bob!

The problem with the “do-gooders” is that they will not publicly acknowledge that there are different kinds of people in this world, including: those who choose to fail, those who fail momentarily, and those who fail by mandate. They offer progressive totalitarianism as a solution to either avoid dealing with the issues on merit and/or they truly believe that denigration of individual dignity is not a principle concern.
Society should empower its members, but the individual must choose to succeed. I think the issue of momentary failure has already been resolved by society, and the majority have agreed that society should help those in need (preferably through voluntary exploitation). The question remains, what is to be done with the people who choose to fail, or deem it appropriate to pursue involuntary exploitation of others to serve their own interests? The first remains a subject of ongoing debate, and the second has been deemed to be immoral, and, in fact, criminal.
promote the general welfare
That really does serve as a good guide to confine the authority of government.
killer contrast of quotes.
Bob, this reminds me – the pics of Obama and Reagan remind me of the CGI cartoons of them in the upcoming conservative documentary “I want your money”
makes me wonder why they didn’t bring up that Reagan quoute in the “Rondezvous with Destiny” documentary?
forgot to mention, this also makes me wonder – Why won’t MICHAEL Reagan run for office?
The presidential quote that shall live on after this administration?
“Fore!” –Barak Hussein Obama
Obama isn’t, he’s cunning like a fox. He told people exactly what he was going to do curing his campaign, but so many Libs & Progressives were in love with the fact that Obama was a black man that they never heard that message. That was the trigger that made me start doing some serious research into who this guy is. That is when I knew we were in trouble & tried to tell friends about “The Man”. The College Crowd sucked up the “Hope & Change” like Obama was the new Rock Star. Their fantasy leader had come to give them everything they wanted, but since they were young & haven’t really lived long enough to know anything about life, they got hoodwinked. Hopefully the young & foolish & many blacks won’t be fooled again. A friend, who happens to be black told me he will never again vote for a black politician again. I don’t necessarily agree, as I know a few I would not hesitate to vote for to the position of POTUS, as they have exactly the same values as I do both morally & Constitutionally.
The do-gooders are liberal nattering nannies, constantly imploring others to buckle up, helmet up, slow up, green up, shut up, pay up & more. The end goal is to inflict their ideology on the rest of us, whether we agree with or like it or not. They always know what’s best for the rest of us.
Oldny:
Obama isn’t, he’s cunning like a fox.
If he’s so cunning, as you say, he sure seems to be making a lot of missteps & dumb utterances. (’57 states’, ‘we need to spread the wealth around’, ‘the police acted stupidly’, ‘if one of my daughters makes a mistake, I don’t want her punished with a baby’, ‘corpse’ – man, and . . . well, you get the idea).
Hopefully the young & foolish & many blacks won’t be fooled again.
Nice pipe dream. Too many have been hoodwinked by the Sharpton & Jackson charlatans of the world; however, slowly but surely they are catching on. Slow & steady wins the contest.
