Had-This-Been-Bush Of The Day

Funny how we seldom hear of homelessness when a Democrat is in The White House, and while millions of people are out of work, losing homes, and watching their 401k’s wither on the vine, one can only imagine what the media chorus would be if George W. Bush and family were living the life of opulence the Obamas constantly rub in our faces.

The rain here on Martha’s Vineyard knocked out some power in the Oak Bluffs section of the island, but that doesn’t seem to have affected the president’s desire for R&R.

The president spent Monday watching DVDs and playing the board game Taboo at Blue Heron Farm, the spacious $20 million estate the First Family rented, at a cost of somewhere between $35,000 and $50,000 a week.

There haven’t been many media pictures of the First Family at play. White House officials say that’s because of privacy concerns, but it’s also true that with unemployment approaching 10%, and US troops in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan, there’s an added sensitivity about images of the First Vacationers having fun in the sun. Or the rain.

Ya think…?

He knows that pretty much no matter what he does, he can’t be fired for 2+ more years. Dey’s livin’ large whilest they can.

Opulence aside, who takes 6 vacations over 19 months?
    Self-indulgent narcissists, that’s who.

Food Stamps Slashed to Pay for Teacher Jobs Bill

Out of work. Out of home. Out of food. Out of rights. There seems to be a trend with this administration. And worse, it is progressive.

As for Obama and family, they appear to be strict opportunists. It is an ideology which has been often favored by the ruling elite, and their supporters.

I’d be happier if the O’s stayed on vacation…….would cost the country less that way.

    Amen..

n.n, that makes me mad every time I think about it. My district laid off teachers, consolidated jobs, stopped paying club advisers, etc. So the pay-out didn’t save any jobs here, but it stands to hurt families that are using the Bridge card (aka food stamps). Our local food banks have been running low all summer, so I don’t know what they’ll be able to do.

MissJean, considering how much money moves through the federal government alone, it makes me mad that there are any indigent people in America at all. Their priorities leave a lot to be desired. It seems that they maintain a pretense if only to deceive people. And people continue to return for more, despite a lack of real return on their investment (both producers and recipients). This is readily observable in the so-called urban ghettos, and is less apparent (and less numerous) throughout the rest of the country.

There are people who require the assistance; but, at least in our area, there are people who exploit this resource provided in good faith, including illegal aliens who seem to access public benefits more readily than citizens.

This country needs a comprehensive audit of all its expenditures. With a virtually unlimited credit ceiling, it is too easy for some people to live in a perpetual fantasy, which is unsustainable.

I can’t remember if this has already been posted, so here it is:

Barney Frank Comes Home To The Facts
    (via Finally, Barney Frank Confesses)

“I hope by next year we’ll have abolished Fannie and Freddie,” he said. Remarkable. And he went on to say that “it was a great mistake to push lower-income people into housing they couldn’t afford and couldn’t really handle once they had it.” He then added, “I had been too sanguine about Fannie and Freddie.”

There comes a time, when reality becomes undeniable.

People receiving subsidies should not be afforded anything above average (and actually much more), which will result in an inflated market, and thereby depriving people who are ineligible for public assistance to participate on merit.

However, not only did they selectively help some people, but we still have indigents, and even homeless in America. Something is seriously wrong with their priorities.

Frank, and others, deserve no redemption in the crisis where they were the principle actors. There were numerous attempts by Republicans to audit Fannie, Freddie, HUD, etc., and all were denied. They knew there was a progressive problem in government and its various enterprises. They acted to protect their interests, and now those they pretended to help, those they didn’t help, and the rest of us, will suffer for their “good intentions.”
