I don’t know how one person call this one thing and another needing more information….
Des Moines police are trying to determine what led to a series of attacks outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds over the weekend that included the assault of two police officers.
Sgt. David Murillo stated in a report on Friday night, “On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.’ ”
State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, D-Des Moines, who has worked to fight gang-related violence, said he doesn’t have enough information to decide if the fights were racially motivated. He said police comments that race was involved could miss other factors, such as nonracial taunting.
Yeah, I guess we’ll need more information to see if “beat whitey night” denotes any kind of racial motivation, because I’d be willing to be a group of white teens talking about “beat nigger night” would somehow be easier for State Rep. Abdul-Samad to interpret.
Let’s also hope the president doesn’t decide to get involved. He usually doesn’t help the situation.
Well, without over-exerting the ol’ brain cells, we can conjecture with relatively high confidence — say, 98% — that brother Abdul-Samad is:
a) Muslim
b) Democrat and,
c) Black
A quick Wikipedia check confirms all three.
Now, the question is, are we profiling by making these conjectures, or are we simply drawing logical inferences from the available information? I submit that it is the latter, and that brother Abdul-Samad could apply the same level of intelligent reasoning to draw similar high-confidence inferences from the available information about the events in question. Conditionally, of course, and subject to verification.
Why is it that so few ‘leaders’ of either party miss the obvious fact that their credibility is improved, not diminished, when they show no bias in their public statements? They clearly take us for fools, but it is they who are obviously foolish.
Maybe the group was just looking for people named Whitey?
Singular sensitivities. Yeah, that works so well for the third world nations. So let America normalize it, too. That does seem to be the progressive trend.

To be fair, this could include blackies, brownies, reddies, etc., who act “whitey.”

That does pose quite the dilemma. Does “your mommy dresses you funny” take precedence over “I am going to beat you, whitey.”?

How this representative didn’t think “beat whitey” was racist is BEYOND me…
I was debating on even mentioning this, but it seems that Drudge posted it and also Bob. I apparently got out of there a couple hours before this occurred. As I’ve written before, I live in Des Moines so this hits home quite a bit for me. Pretty much everyone I’ve talked to is confounded by this even happening here. One of the girls mentioned as arrested in the article, Ashley Robinson, has her pic shown in the Mug Shots section of the DesMoinesRegister.com web site…

IF one or more of this “group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.’ ” had gotten their asses kicked, or worse, shot and killed, State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, D-Des Moines, would doubtfully had anyproblems labeling this “racially motivated”.

Brandon, little Miss Ashley is smiling because she got arrested for interference. Basically, she was being a brat, which involves no physical risk on her part and very little likelihood of anything more than a slap on the wrist. Not to mention, maybe this will give her some street cred since her name and appearance might get her mistaken as a white girl. (In fact, if her eyes were blue, she could be the twin of my Polish neighbor’s granddaughter.)
