Open Thread Sunday

In trying to find a way to jump on the Obama-doubt bandwagon, New York Times’ Maureen Dowd had to diss the American people (ask the NAACP how that worked out for them) to justify her leap.

The bookstore gave the president a copy of “Freedom,” a new novel by Jonathan Franzen about a dysfunctional family in America. This is apt, since Obama is the head of the dysfunctional family of America — a rational man running a most irrational nation, a high-minded man in a low-minded age.

But now, it’s time for the sycophantic Dowd to attempt a credibility reclaim after her manipulative endorsement of The One.

The president who is always talking about wanting to be perfectly clear is ever more opaque. The One, who owes his presidency to the intense feeling he stirred up, turns out to be a practical guy who can’t deal with intense feeling.

He came as a redeemer and then — tied up in W.’s Gordian knots, dragged down by an economy leeched by wars and Wall Street charlatans — didn’t redeem. And nothing bums out a nation that blows with the wind like a self-appointed messiah who disappoints.

“… self appointed messiah”…?

Obviously, she’s expecting the knuckle-dragging populace to forget her own Obama foreplay.

Bring On the Puppy and the Rookie
Obama’s Fly Move
Can The One Have Fun?
Boy, Oh, Boy
Maureen Dowd on Barack Obama: He’s the movie star in the White House
Hail the Conquering Professor

Obviously Dowd conveniently forgot that she and others in the media assured the “most irrational nation” that Barack Obama could do no wrong and fix all that ailed us. Maybe she’s the dysfunctional one, and given the Times’ falling circulation numbers, maybe the bummed out nation is seeking informed, practical optimism elsewhere…?

“Maybe” she is the dysfunctional one?

    Um, rhetorical, right?

All that’s missing from that pic are the fangs and dripping blood…

  3. The Machine says:

You know what she screams out at night, in her sleep?

    “TAKE me, Mandingo!”

  4. IT Nerd says:

    Machine –

LOL!! “TAKE me, Mandingo!” could also be used by Chris Matthews.

    – Maureen Dowd

She is insane. Whatever happened to “separation of cult and state”?

Speaking of Democrats and their supporters…

With the public unions, it is a given that we are paying for it. With the private unions, I wonder how much of the so-called “stimulus” money has been funneled through their businesses directly, and members indirectly. And yet they protest business influence on politics. Hopefully, the non-supporters, the majority of Americans, are laughing, because this is truly hilarious. I don’t think they like us.

Dysfunction loves company; hence, Dowd & Obama should get along just fine.

Bob, Question for you – once again, I watched my Reagan documentary last night, and they said Reagan sought bi-partisan support sometimes. Is that a GOOD thing and why would you want to achieve that? To me, bi-partisanship sounds like you’re compromising something. How is it a good thing to compromise with the enemy?

  8. Nicolas says:

    also..

“Maybe she’s the dysfunctional one, and given the Times’ falling circulation numbers, maybe the bummed out nation is seeking informed, practical optimism elsewhere…?”

that’s why we read and watch B&R :D

  9. Bob says:

Only speculating, but Reagan may have sought bipartisanship because he only knew a Democrat House and Senate.

  10. Nicolas says:

ya, they’d managed that and that he knew it was bad to get to the 30% range so he shifted gears, but they mentioned he’d rather get 80% of what he wanted than go over the cliff with his flag flying. What’s your feeling on bi-partisanship? is it EVER a good thing?

    ROFL with both of you…

Reading her columns makes me wonder, “will she EVER produce the ‘semen stained dress’”?

Who will be her “Linda Tripp?”

Will “The One” read, “I did NOT have sexual relations…with that woman…Ms. Dowd…” from his teleprompter?

    Just wonderin’…

    GoodMojo -

“Will “The One” read, “I did NOT have sexual relations…with that woman…Ms. Dowd…” from his teleprompter?”

Of course it would be on the teleprompter. Otherwise it would be:

“Uhhh, let me be clear – uuuhhhh, I did NOT, uhhh, have sexual, uhhh, relations… with uhhhh, that woman, uhhhhh Ms. Dowd.”

Then again, maybe it will be Chris “Thrill up my leg” Matthews graduating to soiled clothing. Who’s “soil”? I’d be afraid to ask…
