Of What Value Is A Gallup Poll Of Kids?

Personally, I don’t see the value in this.

As students nationwide prepare to return to the classroom, a national Gallup Student Poll classifies one-third of U.S. students in grades 5-12 as “hopeful,” “engaged,” and “thriving” — three metrics that pave the way for future achievement. While 53% of students are hopeful, 63% are engaged, and 70% are thriving, many students fall short in at least one of these dimensions.

I guess if I had just received free clothes for the next few months, didn’t have to worry about housing, food and utility costs, was about to be back in the environment where I could hang out with friends for the next few months, and all I had to do was endure the classroom, do some homework, and play sports after school, one would think I’d be more than somewhat “hopeful”.

Then again, many of these clueless kids are lamenting how tough life may be once they decide to move out and the Obama they were taught to love is long gone from office.

    What do kids know anyway?

Sheltered as they are, fed the pap of self-esteem instead of hard work, not forced to decide how to divvy up meager income, they are singularly unprepared for LIFE.

The poll is only effective at showing how clueless they are. Nothing more, nothing less.

Education is a burden imposed by society… Until you are are required to assume responsibility for your own life, then the reminiscing of the good old days begin. It’s unfortunate that wisdom tends to be most relevant in retrospective; otherwise, we may actually appreciate and enjoy the challenges and rewards of a life well lived.

The left is reduced to polling kids in order to try and get some positive reactions because adults in this nation see ans understand the hopelessness and destruction caused by this administration and Democrats in general.

I prefer to look at this from another point of view.

I polled my 12 year old son and he said he would have answered that he was “hopeful” and “engaged” to those questions. He has been to every rally in DC since 9/11/09. He is HOPEFUL that the Tea Party is making a HUGE difference. His is ENGAGED as he is participating in these events. And, when I asked him, he was not sure he understood what “thriving” was. I asked him if he had food on the table and clothes to wear. He said that we have had to tighten our budget, but he does get good food to eat and clothes to wear – so he said he would have answered yes to that as well.

I guess I would have to ask who explained the poll questions and how they were explained.

I would LOVE to see the kids polled and asked…

    1. Has one or both of your parents lost their job?

    2. Can Mom and/or Dad take you to the movies or out for pizza as often as they could 3 years ago?

    3. Have you had to move to a new school because Mom and/or Dad had to move to a new home?

Probably would have been a more honest poll that way.

Like they know what “engaged” means.

Tremendous value, if the pollers can influence the answers, as they most likely can with kids.

Keep in mind our nation is being run by people with a mentality level equal to or below that of Jr. High School students: little understanding of how our economy works, who produces jobs, how wealth is created, where textbooks & teacher salaries come from, the importance of a strong military, but a great understanding of how to spend.

my GUESS is ACORN somehow uses it for voter fraud purposes? after using cartoon characters and DEAD people, they might as well mix it up by using kids as “registered voters”
