There was a Fox News contributor on FNC this morning, some (cute!) small black woman, that said something like, “Charles Rangel has a had lot of Public Service – he wants the Public to Serve him!” I almost swallowed my teeth, I was laughing so hard!

Haven’t you learned it’s not racism if it comes from the left . . . . on the other hand, if it comes from a conservative, black or white, then it’s racism. Journalism 101. Next assignment: put together a conspiracy plan to get the Democrat candidate elected President without the right finding out it about it. Class dismissed.
Rangel may be shown the door, but the media will fawn over “all the good he’s done for the little people.” It’ll be a Ted Kennedy reprisal. You people who want to make a big deal out of Kennedy killing a person, shut up. You people who want to make a big deal out of Rangel (the person who writes the tax code) being a tax cheat, shut up, you’re racist.

Essence seems to know what those whiners don’t, especially the former staff member who started up the controversy with her twitter:
Young people are a less self-segregating than older generations. You see a pretty, fashionable young black woman and she might have a white mother, aunt or grandmother whose advice she appreciates. She most likely has a diverse group of girlfriends who talk shoes, clothes and make-up. Those readers aren’t going to care if Ms. Placas is white as long as she knows fashion and can give great advice.

When I was teaching in Sacramento City Unified School District, I worked one summer for the Urban League as a job developer for the Summer Youth Employment program one summer. After the boss left to play golf, I found myself surrounded by angry fellow workers, all of them black, me being the only white. They wanted to know why I was hired. Of course, they wouldn’t have done that if I had been black. I would have been a brother. It was a very long summer. At the end of it, the secretary, who had always been very pleasant to me (her brother had been a SF 49′er free safety, Freeman Something or Other), commisserated adding, you must thing we’re all a bunch of crazies”, or something to that effect. I said “It Has been an experience.” She nodded knowingly. But she never spoke up in my defence in front of the others. I got more education than I wanted that summer.
