Is Glenn Beck a pompous arrogant or seriously out of touch?
Here Mr. Beck believes he needs to remind US not to lose enthusiasm. Has he so quickly forgotten how his show gained prominence? How many people here and on Facebook or Twitter constantly repeat the n-word: November!
Then he proceeds to remind US not to get violent and pick up a gun. Can Beck give us a count of the many who’ve been arrested on anything involving violence at a Tea Party? You need a calculator to tally up arrests for vandalism and violent crime when liberals congregate. What have we done to warrant a refresher on peaceful protests to a Tea Party that routinely includes children and the elderly.
I don’t know who he’s posturing for, like this is some kind of digital CYA preaching non-violence and issuing multiple warnings just in case something goes down. But if that’s the case, he’s either using us or thinks very little of us.
Which is worse?

Amen!
I think its a CYA disguised as a public service announcement
“Is Glenn Beck a pompous arrogant or seriously out of touch?”
me personally, I’m going to guess the latter..
Bob, I just had a bigger WTF of the day. USA Today reported that President Obama is going to appear on The View. The man can’t bring himself to hold an open press conference, but he can appear on a sleazy daytime gabfest. I swear, it’s like he wants to make the office of POTUS into a figurehead while leaving the governing to his appointed lackeys.
Definitely out of touch. I really think he is starting to believe some of the psychobabble from the left or the CYA principal. Besides, what group of people is responsible for the riots and police presence? It’s always the crazy left that vandalizes and causes problems. Think political conventions, WTO, Greenpeace, Earth first, PINK, prop 8 protests, police shootings, trials, etc.
Mr. Beck need to address those A-holes first.
@MissJean
Check out this morning’s Edition.
Beat ya!
Bob, you are the fastest blog in the West. (SW?) I’m glad I didn’t see it earlier. This morning wasn’t so great as it was.
Was Northeast. Northern Virginia is considered The South, go figure.
I love it Bob, he’s a great history teach but what does he think we’ve been doing since BEFORE obama got elected? I know I’ve lost friends, gotten into heated debates and lost more hours of sleep than I can count helping to stay informed a…nd keeping people jazzed about the up coming elections. I don’t need anyone telling me to stay the course, WE need our government to stop ignoring us. We ALL can’t take every day off from work to protest around the country…there is a new one every day for pete’s sake. Thanks for sharing your views which, more often than not, are my own.
Glenn Beck says question, so I question.
I find the man to be very annoying most of the time.
MissJean: “I swear, it’s like he wants to make the office of POTUS into a figurehead while leaving the governing to his appointed lackeys.”
Remember where Obama came from: Chicago. Word is Gov. Blagojevich did exactly that: acted as a figurehead, making his lackeys do the actual work. Obama sees his stint as President as a time for him and his family to enjoy the finer things in life: jetting off to NY for dinner & a play; playing golf on the weekends; WH chefs serving nothing but the finest of food and drink; appearing on sleazy cluckfests as you mention; and getting driven/flown around everywhere he wants to go in the world, all courtesy of you and I. Meanwhile, the economy is tanking, unemployment is >10%; our borders remain porous, Afghanistan is chaos, and many Gulf coast businesses have gone under. Let’s hope for change.
Annoying, perhaps, but frequently right. And if he can motivate the masses who need it into throwing the bums out, then more power to him. Those of us who would do it anyway can follow our own path, as long as the goal is reached.
Glenn does far more good than harm.
Way to stick together, folks.
We are sticking together, Mac.
Beck doesn’t seem to have noticed.
Machine,
There is a certain sort of vile and disgusting “even-handedness” which is anything but, being but a milder version of the old tactic of implying (or even asserting) a ‘moral equivalency‘ where there is none.
I think that is what is being abjected to.
I’m with Mauser and Machine. Glenn is over the top, but he reaches a demographic that we’re not going to reach here. There is room and a need for many different voices reaching out towards the same goals. Beck may be a bit late to the game, but I think he’s sincere.
He also has a place for the younger generation that is used to having information broken down for them bit by bit and don’t do the kind of reading we here are used to. I get fed here, as do my older children. But my younger kids and two of mine who are dyslexic learn a bit easier from Beck. What’s funny is when one of them tries to “educate” one of the older kids and I hear a retort of, “Duh, Bob covered that ages ago.”
So much for BrooklynBridge calling this an echo chamber. We’re kinda split on this one.
I can see where Glenn is coming from, I’ve talked to people who say our politicians don’t listen anyway so why continue going to rallies or making phone calls. I sometimes feel that way with VA’s own Beavis and Butthead, I call but I know how they are going to vote. It can be discouraging. We still have too many Republican’s that don’t have the balls to do the hard work, like repeal Obamacare. Take all of this together and it’s not hard to see why some people are ready to give up. Hopefully Glenn keeps those people motivated.
An added bonus, he irritates the hell out of the left.
Okay, everybody, keep this in mind: Glenn is not speaking to US. As in, like mined people that already see the danger and are actively trying to reverse course so we don’t go over the cliff…
So some of us have already pointed out that he’s trying to get the not-so-well-informed out there (which I commonly refer to as The Great Unwashed Masses) informed. If he comes across as condescending, so be it. Grit your teeth and bear with it, he doesn’t need to sing to the choir, okay?
Bob, mostly I agree with you, sometimes I don’t. I think he’s giving “the rest of us” a pep talk, and I for one encourage this. Once you abandon hope (one of Satan’s greatest tools!!) it’s downhill fast from there.
I applaud both him and you for your efforts, Bob. Keep up the good work, BOTH of you. Okay?
‘Nuff said.
Igor
It might be “CYA”, but I prefer to see it as a smart pre-emptive move to keep the Left from claiming that the Right — and the Tea Party in particular — are not only racist, but “dangerous.” Look how some of the Lefty Loons like to claim violent incidents at Tea Party rallies (without evidence, of course). Also, don’t forget that some people claimed that Bill O’Reilly all but called for the murder of Dr. Tiller.
Try googling “Beck calls for violence” and you’ll be surprised at what the Left has been writing about him. Start Media Matters’ Eric Boelhert’s “Glenn Beck and the rise of Fox News’ militia media” at http://mediamatters.org/columns/200904070009
My only point is why indict a group of adults, veterans, and children who haven’t misbehaved and remind them not to. I haven’t heard one TP person say they were going to engage in civil disobedience as the left always does. I haven’t heard one TP person use the phrase “by any means necessary”, yet Beck feels the need to lecture US not to go violent…?
Sorry. I’m tired of his shit.
Glenn Beck has some worthy and serious themes to convey, but he dilutes them into patent absurdity with the clownish presentation methods he utilises.
He hasn’t learned the first rule of effective communication: If you ain’t got nothin’ worthwhile to say, then shut the heck up. Or, “It’s better to be thought stupid by the few than to speak and remove all doubt.”
He’ll disappear when he loses his audience share.
I LOVE GLENN BECK!!! PREACH ON BROTHER BECK!!!!
