In the military you know if you are ever captured, negotiation for your release is not an option and would put the US in the weaker position. Your faith is not in your government but in God and your fellow service-members who will do all that they can to rescue you.

  2. Bob says:

I could see a Republican president trying something, either diplomatic or military to try and win their release. This president has golfing to do. Remember how many months it took him to meet with McChrystal (not even a phone call) just to hear his request for reinforcements.

If this is true, you know these guys are going to die. I hope they realize this and go down fighting and take some of the bastards out with them. I would.

I’m sure it is where they keep their own money.

I can tell you that I only once paid to go see a movie in 3D, and it wasn’t my intention to do so (I wanted to see just a regular movie, butt wasn’t given the option). It was a huge injury to my wallet, and I haven’t been to the movies since. There is a certain price point where something is no longer worth it, and the movies have gone well past that price point.

The story of why they won’t stop shooting in Chicago
40 people shot, not a single conviction, and mostly because people refuse to testify. That’s how a city is lost.

    Axe falls on NHS services
They should have rationed IVF years ago, when they first started getting patients who had been living on assistance for years.

Bob, that is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time! I would pay to see the film version: Children of the Reid. But not in 3D.

Hollywood fears the 3D bubble has already burst
I’ve seen only three 3D movies. How to Train Your Dragon was the only one that impressed me. I took four young relatives to see it, and the 3D version was the only showing at that time so I shelled out the extra $2 per ticket. It had flying and combat scenes that looked better than those in Avatar, plus the story was good. I wonder what’s going to happen to all those 3D televisions that I’ve seen advertised?

  7. crowhorse says:

I watched the ticket prices go from just under $5.50 to 8+ for a matinee, and $10-11 for 3D. That was just over the course of a couple years.

That may not seem like a whole lot to some people, but it sure does make a difference to our family. It seemed like every time I went to the movies, the price went up again. Needless to say we also don’t buy the overpriced concessions, with popcorn at about $6-7 for a family.

Maybe I’m a product of my parents, who are a product of their Great Depression parents, but I just can’t spend that kind of money on popcorn and pop, especially on top of those movie prices.

It would take a very enticing movie to get me to go to the cinema again.

  8. MissJean says:

Crowhorse, my jaw is hanging open. My local theater’s price just went up to $5.50 and taking 3 children and myself to a 3D show cost less than $50, including the food and drinks. (To be honest, I buy two pops and one big popcorn so that we get the 25-cent refills.)

I can’t imagine paying $10 each. For those prices, I’d be taking them to the zoo or the ballpark.
