Masshole Of The Day

Are we sick of John Kerry yet?

Sen. John Kerry, who has repeatedly voted to raise taxes while in Congress, dodged a whopping six-figure state tax bill on his new multimillion-dollar yacht by mooring her in Newport, R.I.

Could the reason be that the Ocean State repealed its Boat Sales and Use Tax back in 1993, making the tiny state to the south a haven – like the Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Nassau – for tax-skirting luxury yacht owners?

Cash-strapped Massachusetts still collects a 6.25 percent sales tax and an annual excise tax on yachts. Sources say Isabel sold for something in the neighborhood of $7 million, meaning Kerry saved approximately $437,500 in sales tax and an annual excise tax of about $70,000.

Apologies as this is another instance where I find myself speechless.

I had many words for his lies. Unbridled arrogance can be a shock to normal people.

After the way he lied about Vietnam heroes, it takes this to make ya speechless?

  4. Mauser says:

But on the other hand, I’m sure he’s condemning Steinbrenner for not dying next year.

  5. Iron Mike says:

Folks, there are THREE parts to the story. He had the boat built in New Zealand, – $7m worth of jobs NOT happening here.

Massachusetts JUST raised sales tax from 5% to 6.25%, while RI had eliminated them for boats back in 1993.

Kerry NEVER voted against ANY tax. Why should he worry about taxes, – his wife has lawyers for that. Taxes are for us little people.

Now watch him start sailing her goodies to offshore banks, while he pretends he is JFK reborn at the helm. Besides, there are more of the “beautiful people” in Newport than in Boston Harbor.

Where’s Moby Dick when we need him, or a good Swift Boat?

  6. gagblue says:

Hey all of you on Kerry’s case – just remember, he’s just being a protective husband (on his Senator’s salary he couldn’t pay these taxes anyway) by keeping poor little Teresa from having to pay ‘em!

Calling tea party protestors racist pisses me off.

Calling a hallmark card racist just made me laugh my butt off.

I mean, do they have a racist section in the card aisle? You know next to the Fathers, Mothers, Daughters, Sons, In-laws, Birthdays, Condolences. etc sections?

  8. Nicolas says:

“This and the L.A. NAACP-racist Hallmark card story = speechless.”

    again, call me surprised :P

I suppose I can understand though

  9. ecotim says:

I thought is was patriotic to pay taxes? Isn’t that what the dems tell us? Pay your fair share of the taxes. Oh that is right, we pay our fair share so they do not have to pay theirs.

  10. JP Kalishek says:

Well, this shows he may not be quite so monumentally stupid, but then it shows that he is voting with Malice. He knows he is hurting the economy, so that makes him evil.

  11. n.n says:

It’s good to be a civil servant. He can join Rangel in the stockade. On the other hand, we should deport both of them to serve their time in a progressive totalitarian regime. I hear Turkey, or Mexico, has facilities that would be perfectly suited for corrupt civil servants. And, as a bonus, they can witness first-hand the inevitable outcome of their fundamentally flawed policies. As others before them, they will beg for redemption.

  12. IT Nerd says:

What needs to go with this is ANY speech where he is talking about the wealthy paying their fair share of taxes.

    Why that no good … horse-faced … I’d like to …

You’re right. There are no words.

as am I, Bob, however, call me surprised, in the 2 years I’ve been reading your columns, it seems like “speechless” wasn’t in your vocabularly as you always seemed to have a killer way of describing just about any circumstance with pinpoint accuracy. this is why I appreciate your experience and insight into Massachusetts style liberalism…absolutely and completely DISGUSTING…to put it mildly

Yes, heard about this today. Doesn’t it make your blood boil? A bunch of hypocrites, every one of them.
