Is The ‘Tanning Bed’ Tax Sexist, Racist, And Unconstitutional?

Apparently more women use tanning beds than men, and I know of no black people that use them. This looks like a discriminate tax on whites and women. Is this even Constitutional…?

The price of looking good increases by 10 percent today when a tax on indoor tanning created by the U.S. health-care reform bill takes effect.

The tax is expected to raise $2.7 billion over 10 years, according to a March 10 estimate by the Joint Committee on Taxation, and will help pay for the estimated $940 billion overhaul of health care.

Taxing to alter behavior is Democratic. Taxing to find revenue to offset runaway spending is Democratic. Taxing one group and not another is un-American.

Finally, they draw the scalpel. It’s too bad that they will not apply it to their expenses.

Modifying behavior, which does not affect other people, should be expected under a progressive system. Still, there is not much nuance in their action, when they intentionally, and specifically, target white women. Perhaps it is a well-intentioned attempt to maintain racial purity.

Progressives are full of good intentions. It is unfortunate that most people do not simply submit to their enlightened ideology.

BHO doesn’t care about what’s unconstitutional. Like the other dems in DC, all he cares about is power. My sister went through the roof when I told her about this new tax today.

Mr Parks, I really do hope you’re being ironic here, in playing the Democrats’ boilerplate irrational “logic” back at them.

If they want to be equal, they need to raise taxes on hair extensions. And if they want to hit women both black and white, they need to tax fake nails – maybe by the millimeter. :)

Isn’t it ironic that irony should arise, just when Sheryl Crow should appear? This seems to be a setup, or, maybe, merely a coincidence.

I like the Twain quote. There does tend to be an inordinate number of corrupt people in civil service. However, they would be nothing without their supporters.

Yes, it does seem to be a tax on white people, mostly white women. Racist, sexist & unconstitutional. Next thing you know, there will be a swimsuit tax, in order to tax outdoor tanning as well.
