Ha! So true! Although my husband gets on to me about calling Obama and his cronies stupid. He says that calling them idiots only lets them off the hook because they aren’t stupid, they know exactly what they are doing and destroying our economy is part of their plan. He’s right, it’s just that I don’t cuss. I might say “idiot” but I am really thinking something else.

    God’s Work? Luck? Or Lawbreaking?

the federal government was apprised by BP on February 13 that the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was leaking oil and natural gas into the ocean floor

the administration was also informed about this development, six weeks before to the rig’s fatal explosion when an engineer from the University of California, Berkeley, announced to the world a near miss of an explosion on the rig by stating, “They damn near blew up the rig.”

Interesting. Who should we blame first?

As for BP, and oil recovery, this should be a lesson to learn from, and not a reason to impose a general moratorium. I suppose the reference to a “scalpel” was merely a rhetorical device used to assuage people’s fears of reform without substance. The prudent course of action would be to evaluate each project on a case-by-case basis; however, when the overseers are part of the problem, then prudence cannot be expected.

At the very least, it is now obvious that both Obama and BP should share responsibility for the consequences of their actions. So, no yachting retreats for BP’s CEO, and no golfing vacations for Obama.

Ugliness – The blacklist of climate science

    What’s next, an inquisition?

    A New Black List

Back to the world’s most accomplished “climate skeptic.” That would be my father who not only tops the black list but also would be near the top of the list of acceptable scientists based on his credentials, had he been placed there.

Far from being a skeptic, my father has long argued that the IPCC has underestimated the human influence on the climate system, which includes but is not limited to carbon dioxide, a view that is pretty mainstream these days, thanks in part to his work.

Pielke, Jr.’s father would like to conduct a comprehensive survey of human influences on the Earth’s systems. Unfortunately, for him, the most profitable aspect of the global warming agenda is in regulating carbon emissions. He, and his son, don’t seem to appreciate, or will not acknowledge, why they have been blacklisted. Still, as the opportunistic proponents of global warming continue to face challenges, they will inevitably reveal their hand, as they have done, and continue to do.

Let the inquisition proceed, lest the global warming cult fall prey to people of integrity.

Object to Prostitot Culture? You’re Probably a Racist Prude

Decked out in flashy burlesque costumes, five dancers mouth sexually suggestive lyrics as they writhe and shimmy across the stage. The audience hoots and hollers as they gyrate to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

If you’ve seen the viral video then you already know: these YouTube sensations are just eight and nine years old.

Didn’t someone recently say “why let young a girl’s body be wasted”, or something to that effect. Of course, the provocative dance is not equivalent to sex; but, the denigration of individuals who are not in a position to determine their own path through life, is obvious and progressive.

nn, it’s funny how Bob found some video of black folks getting children to bump and grind and he called it out – but that white woman is saying that little white girls should be exploited because no one dares say that black girls shouldn’t. It’s like a funhouse mirror.

Although, as I recall, I believe the last comment here at B&R on that particular white girls’ video was that we all were being controversial just to have something to bitch about. Sadly, there’s a lot of wonderful moves that DON’T involve pelvic thrusts that those girls could have used. I’ve seen 7-year-old dancers perform so beautifully, perfectly poised and in synch.

    MissJean:

The distinction is in presentation. We are incapable of divining someone’s intent, but we are able to observe, and within a particular context, pass judgment.

I don’t think those girls are old enough to be presented in that fashion. The innocence of youth should not be undervalued. As we grow older that innocence is, under ideal circumstances, voluntarily divested as we develop sexually (i.e., acknowledge our role in the natural order) and accept the responsibility of adulthood (i.e., become productive members of society).
