“If he can’t/won’t explain it, why did he say it? (not the brightest bulb in the box)”
Please! You *know* that very few people, and certainly not the “liberals,” are even interested in hearing, much less understanding, his point. I’m not so sure you are interested.
Don’t you read Walter Williams? You’d know how the “civil rights” legislation destroys all our civil rights.
The “civil rights” legislation didn’t merely strike down the immoral and unconstitutional Jim Crow laws … this legislation *also* maked all of us constantly accountable to the changing whims of the “liberals” as we exercise our rights of association. This legislation lead directly to the racial-quota regime now in place; this legislation lead directly to the misplaced grievance mentality that so many black have, and to the resentment that so many whites have in response.
“made,” not “maked,” obviously
@Ilion
You’ve been here long enough to know that I stand by everything I say. As you are so sure I’m not interested in Rand Paul’s point, why won’t he come out and defend it? Why is that my problem?
Pregnant Aussie troops sent home
“… fraternisation is banned on operations”. Yeah, like that worked
As I’ve said here before, based on observations of 12 years on active duty, when men and women are placed together in close working conditions, there WILL be sex.
I’m amazed that commanders are still perplexed when their female troops end up in a “family way”.
The military made the mistake of not being prepared for this when they opened up the majority of positions to women back in the late 70′s, early 80′s, and the first influx of women came in. Because this was largely a peacetime era, policies were established for pregnancy that just don’t transfer now when wartime deployment is the rule.
Most women I knew were extremely careful concerning their birth control, but it only takes a small handfull to screw up unit deployment and cohesion.
“… to know that I stand by everything I say.”
And?
“As you are so sure I’m not interested in Rand Paul’s point …”
*YOU* chose to call him stupid over this.
I, too, stand by what I say, and I did not say I am sure you are not interested in his point; I said that I am not so sure you are interested. It’s a very different statement. And, again, I remind you, *you* chose to call him stupid.
“ … why won’t he come out and defend it?”
Oh, come on! You know from personal experience that the official GOP types *always* cave when the Dems start beating their drums; that they always come down heavily on the one who ruffles the feathers of the “liberals.”
“ … why won’t he come out and defend it? Why is that my problem?”
Again, I remind you, *you* chose to call him stupid over this.
If not the brightest bulb equals ‘stupid’, you can put that word in my mouth.
Rand Paul is not new to politics, so I would assume he chooses his words carefully. He chose to step in the race mud by bringing up the Civil Rights Act and he had the opportunity to bring up some very valid points. Instead, he’s ducking the talk shows.
On second thought, your word is appropriate.
“He chose to step in the race mud by bringing up the Civil Rights Act …”
Did he, indeed? As I understand it, he was responding to questions asked of him.
“… and he had the opportunity to bring up some very valid points.”
Did he not do so? And, was what he said not ignored in the rush to freak-out?

“If not the brightest bulb equals ’stupid’, you can put that word in my mouth.”
Mr Parks, I think a lot of you … but this sort of thing — intellectual dishonesty — is one of the quickest ways to destroy all the respect I have for a person.
Well, that’s up to you, but of all the Republicans out there, why was he the person asked about the Civil Rights Act? Why is he avoiding the Sunday shows? Doing so is dumb. Stupid by your words.
As you also know, I am not a kneejerk Paulie so I don’t believe neither he or his father can do no wrong. We all know the best thing to do in politics is get in front of something. He’s chosen to hide. Not good.
“… but of all the Republicans out there, why was he the person asked about the Civil Rights Act?”
Because he’s a libertarian, rather than a conservative.
Most conservatives have given no thought at all to that act, and thus have the same kneejerk worship of it as the “liberals” do … despite that much of what ails America today logically follows from the “evil Easter-eggs” contained in the act (you know, the provisions for which Goldwater voted against the bill).
“… I am not a kneejerk Paulie so I don’t believe neither he or his father can do no wrong.”
I should hope not!
He may be libertarian but he is a Republican, thus a target. Personally, if I was a candidate, I wouldn’t have gone anywhere near Rachel Maddow. Not out of fear, but in a campaign there would be nothing good to come out of it.
As a Republican, liberals will do anything to derail a campaign, especially with the looming ass whuppin’ coming this fall. Taking a comment and twisting it into something racially offensive to pounce on was stupid. Not explaining yourself is even more so, as it implies he said the indefensible.
Bob, not sure if you’ve seen this video, but I don’t remember seeing it before on your blog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=662R2awSwPQ

Bob, your comment “One day, these thugs are going to protest the wrong house in a neighborhood in waiting” is precious. May it happen soon. Some of us are getting pretty tired of the mob rule.
