Val Kilmer recently appeared at the SXSW premiere of MacGruber, and let’s just say he’s let himself go. I know most actors want to follow in Marlon Brando’s footsteps, but this is going a bit overboard. It almost looks like he’s wearing a fat suit with prosthetic makeup.
Whoa.

and that one deserve a Keanu Reeves kind of “whoooooa…..”
and you’ve held up pretty well, over the years, Bob. past and present
He’s also been letting his character roles go. Pretty much all he ever does now is direct-to-video and TV shows.
On first glance I thought the dude on the right was Mickey Rourke
“I’m gaining weight for a Role. It hasn’t been cast yet, but I’m gonna be ready for it.”
Bob,
Out of curiousity, how tall are you?
Gone are the days of Real Genius and Top Secret. Dude should have stuck to comedy.
5’11″
Sorry, but I still think he looks pretty good considering it’s been over 20 years since that first pic. I also remember how emaciated he was for his role in Tombstone. I know he gained weight for that last “Lonesome Dove” miniseries, and then he was thin a few years ago in something else.
Hey, stuff happens. Alec Baldwin use to look a lot different than he does now, too.
Thanks for depressing us, Bob. Age can be a terrible thing.
Kinda looks like alcohol bloat. Is he sporting a gin blossom?
Val doesn’t need to lose weight – he just needs to gain some height!
Aging Hollywood stars eventually find out it’s difficult to keep a fit body, particularly as they age, just like all of us. Some, like Schwarzeneggar & Stallone, have daily work out routines they do to stay fit. Stallone has said he now has his down to about 2 hours a day. Other Hollywood stars take the easy route – laxatives, plastic surgery and having the means to hire personal chefs who prepare nothing but healthy food for them. Others take an in-between approach: moderation in eating and physical activity, and hiring personal trainers & nutritionists.
A haircut and tux might have helped Kilmer’s image here, and I would guess not many people are interested in hearing him re-live his glory days looking like this.
