Did The L.A. Times Run A Photoshopped Pic?

AFP photographer Abbas Momani does have a bit of a reputation for staging shots that depict Palestinians as the consistent victims of Israeli aggression, yet one can’t find many of his pics showing the aftermath of Palestinian violence. Just because everyone has an agenda, doesn’t mean you go out of your way into the unethical to prove a point.

Before some of you ask, I’ve been a professional graphic designer since the literal cut-and-paste days of 1976. I’ve been using Photoshop since 1998, so I know a bit about touching up and downright photo manipulation.

The Israeli soldier, who is the subject of the pic, has forearms that appear to have outlines while other parts of his body does not. Possibly just hairy arms. The soldier in the upper right doesn’t appear to have a shadow, not to mention this interesting abnormality (a sloppy crop mark?)  in the curb of the street that seems to be curving upward, an opposite direction than a convexing lens would have it do so. Now, the street may curve, but another curious note is the graffiti on the upper right that is in better focus than it should be.

Pardon my skepticism, as Palestinian photographers have Photoshopped images before.

There’s an even bigger Tell. The shadow of the gun is wrong. Based on where the shadow of the gun is on the ground (Which should be showing nearly as much light between the grenade launcher and the barrel) where is the shadow of the butt of the gun? It should be casting a shadow across his thigh.

I’m reminded of the old cartoon where the dog is typing away at the computer, saying, “Anybody can be whatever they want to be on the Internet!”

Obama, Nancy & Harry love them because they can be Photoshoped to your specifications & the results they want. I have to keep my puppy off of my lap, as she stepped on the enter key before I was done typing.

I definitely would go by your insight Machine. That guy looks smaller than me & Bob will tell you I weigh about 160 lbs soaking wet & holding two five pound bags of sugar & I know for a fact I couldn’t hold it like that. Ain’t trick photography wonderful & one of the reasons courts in NYS don’t like them for accident investigations. They want real film & negatives to go with them. Obama, Nancy &

The “Israeli” soldier with his hand supposedly on the woman’s shoulder also appears to be in the act of falling down rather than escorting someone.

And he’s not *looking at whom he’s escorting, nor in the direction he is purported to be moving in*.

Reference the two fingers on the Matty, that’s a LOT of moment angle, those Israeli soldiers must be some macho muthas to be able to hold the ’16 platform based rifle like that. And his fingers aren’t even strained, nor blood-drained. Not to mention that no soldier in his right mind would be holding his main firearm like that in a combat zone while supposedly escorting a “prisoner”. Not exactly a state of readiness, more exactly a definite poor photoshop. Anybody who has ever even picked up the M-16 platform rifle knows how much they really weigh, how they would balance, etc.

This guy’s CAR-15 defies gravity, among other things.

  6. The Machine says:

Well, some of you can see part of it.

Here’s another clue for you all, the walrus may or may not have been Paul, but — ever try to hold a CAR-15 that has at least two front-mounted attachments and a full mag out to the side like that — with TWO FINGERS?

.When we have a president that listened to hatred being spewed from the pulpit, why does anything shock us anymore…He relies on dimwit joe biden and hilary to do his legwork. I have only been to Israel once but it did not take me long to figure out that this little nation is surrounded by its enemies. Now because we have a spineless wonder in the white house who sees fit to stick up for the radicals of the world and turn his back on the only friend we have in that part of the world.
We have turned collectively, as a nation from the face of the Almighty,
and demanded and now worship a different idol, government, and its king, the exalted supreme leader, the one. Our founding fathers must
be spinning and our Creator certainly can not be happy.
Read the 5000 Year Leap….when the people and the politicians learn that they can get benefit from government, we as a nation are lost….why did he get elected…because many were duped to believe that he would get them what they wanted and those that surround him fed the lie because they knew that they too would benefit…..Our only hope is to pray that God will forgive the sin and abomination that we have created with our government…..

I’m looking at the shadows that don’t match. Compare the couple in front and the man near the wall – look at their shadows. Now look at the shadow of the Israeli solder. Looks like a different lightsource.

Maybe that soldier just has a very, very big head. First thing I noticed as it didn’t look right with the arms.
