My Utah State University alumni magazine had a great tribute to him in the last issue. An athletic field has been named in his honor.
may he rest in peace, even though I’m not familiar with him.
the later picture on the right makes him look like Orson Welles though I noticed
He seemed like such a gentle man and a gentleman.
@RosalieB – Indeed, he was my favorite sports announcer as a kid. In retrospect he was always positive, upbeat, and polite. A gentleman for sure.
rest in peace Mr Garvey
I saw him with an entourage in a bar in New Orleans years ago, but I only knew him through FTD commercials. RIP Merlin.
He was mentioned in a sports book I read like 20 years ago by one of the 1960′s Green Bay Packers. I think it was Jim Kramer. He said a lot of great players were full of crap and real jerks but said Olsen was a genuine good, nice guy.
