For residents, the junction between the busy Dom Helder Câmara and dos Democráticos, in North Rio de Janeiro, has become known as the Corner of Fear — and video footage of daily life there has shocked a nation already familiar with guns and violence.
What are the odds they clean this up before the Olympics?







I definitely wouldn’t be taking my family there to watch the games. It looks like Baghdad might be safer.

Unfortunately, I think that any “cleaning” would be done the way that it once cleaned the city of homeless children: murder.

Given that the only cleaning that would help is the kind that was done to Carthage, I have my doubts much will be done.
Rio is what the future of alot of U.S. cities will look like. Rich and poor with an almost non-existent middle class. If we don’t reverse our current family trends, we will start seeing more of these “Lord of the Flies” scenario’s in our own country.
good question…I’d never considered a city like Rio to host the games. I think Beijing was a stretch…holy shit is Rio in an entirely different LEAGUE
