Walter Williams’ 1985 PBS documentary Good Intentions based on his book, The State Against Blacks (1982). The documentary was very controversial at the time it was released and led to many animosities and even threats of murder. In Good Intentions, Dr. Williams examines the failure of the war on poverty and the devastating effect of well meaning government policies on blacks asserting that the State harms people in the U.S. more than it helps them.
h/t Dan. Good catch

Well, you know the old saying, beloved of “liberals” and bureaucrats everywhere: Teach a man to fish and you have a job for a day; but, give a man a fish and you have guaranteed lifetime employment.
Thanks, Bob! Walter Williams is one of my favorite thinkers.
I’m going to show this video to my boys. I’m trying to raise critical thinkers.
I remember watching it on PBS way back when. Once. Heh.
Couldn’t recall the name nor the man in it, did not know it was the fellow whom I’ve now gotten to know from radio, guest hosting for Rush, writing on the web. Walter. The man has a stellar sense of humor as well as being a scholar’s scholar.
Thanks Bob!
I’ve emailed links out for this one…
The Road to Hell is truly paved with Good Intentions…
I remember seeing this program in ’86 on Oregon PBS, and LL is right -you *wouldn’t* see it today! My wife and I were seriously considering pulling our kids out of the abysmal Public School system and doing Home Schooling, but we moved out of Portland to Spokane and the point was moot.
Minimum wage laws and their ilk are the bane of a successful society, and of course are a great source of tax revenue and control of the populace (the Sheeple), and as long as the Gubmint can keep people (Black *or* White) ignorant then they will continue to vote for bread and circuses. And the chasm between the Haves and the Have Nots will continue to get worse. Progressive, isn’t it?
We’ve only got about a year before the economic collapse, is everybody ready?
Igor
(Love listening to Dr. Williams on Rush when he sits in for him!)
Bet you would not see that program on PBS today.
