Not surprising. Martha Coakley said that Catholics shouldn’t work in emergency rooms, since their belief in the sanctity of life conflicts with the belief that any unwanted child should be a dead child. According to some friends who work in the Archdiocese of Detroit, the Catholics have been expecting ultimatums to conform to the “culture of death” or to close their charities.

This DC decision comes in the same week that the local bishop stripped the word “Catholic” out of a medical center in Bend, OR. To add insult to injury, the Catholics operate a lot of medical centers in poor areas, so if the ultimatums force them to close their doors, the leftwingers will label them as rightwing haters who don’t care about the poor.

It’s the newspaper that chose to use the phrase “black up”, since it’s nowhere in the article. Personally, I don’t think there was anything wrong with the choice. If the actor was dark-skinned, he’d have had to wear light make-up and blue contacts, since Dumas had a relatively light complexion and blue eyes. And possibly a latex face prosthetic to make him look old – can you name any elderly black French actor, let alone international star? (And maybe I’m just prejudiced against the French, but every time I think of black entertainers in France, I think of Josephine Baker dancing with bananas around her waist and other “jungle savage” props.)

The Rules Are Always Different

Since the Archdiocese is shutting dowm their foster care program, I’m sure the “Same-Sex Marriage Bill” does a tad more than merely allow homosexual couples to adopt.
