It’s The Center, Sucka

With the upset victory (understatement of the day) in Massachusetts of Republican Scott Brown over shoo-in Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, the pundit establishment will be giving their political pals a tip: move to the center, and I really hope my Bay State brethren don’t let their guard down.

As someone who ran for State Representative (12th Franklin District) in 2008 and for Massachusetts Republican Party chair in 2006, I know how Democrats think.

While enjoying an 87% super majority on Beacon Hill, Massachusetts Democrats weren’t satisfied. They had their feet on our necks and their mission was to squeeze the life out of us. Thanks to Brown’s victory last night, Democrats nationally know that their lifeclocks are ticking and are now trying to figure out what to do about it.

@Ilion- re: GRIP, that’s from DrBulldog and Ronin’s blog, could be they got it somewhere else.

  2. Ilion says:

Get a GRIP. I like that!

  3. Ilion says:

Mr Parks, I know that you have (shall we say) differences with Mr Keyes. Nevertheless, I think he is spot-on here, and well worth considering.

2 words from the Isaac Hayes song come to mind

    “daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, right..”

  5. Bastiat Fan says:

I could not agree more, Bob. DO NOT fall for phony “bipartisanship” and a faux move to the center. Time to boot the weasels OUT for good. (in both parties, by the way.)

  6. PB-in-AL says:

Way to go Syble, et al.!

I was talking with my wife about this last night. While she was surprised and happy at the outcome, she is equally concerned that the GOP will fall for the “bipartisan” ploy and trot the RINOs out. I agree. They need their feet held to the fire as much or more than the Dems at this point.

I’m more and more of the opinion to get a GRIP (Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians). Regardless of their party, they need to know we’re paying attention and we’re tired of their shenanigans.

  7. Jan says:

Amen, Bob. Lot’s of “move to the center” and way too much “bipartisan” will be heard.
Sybie, cheers from S. Fl……….how about a pink slip for Barney Frank? We are doing our best not to inflict Charlie Crist on the other 49 states.

  8. Igor says:

Bob, message recieved: “Don’t let your guard down, the weasels are still in charge!”

  9. Syble says:

Bob, don’t you worry about us in MA. Not only are we watching the DEMS and will be gunning for them soon, in fact Peter Blute is considering running for Scott’s seat! But we’ll also be watching Scott to ensure that he doesn’t move an iota to the center left. We’re holding him to his campaign promises.

Is it true that Rachel Madcow was teary-eyed when announcing Croakley’s concession?! That is what I heard!
