Zinn & The Revisionist History Channel
Typical liberal presentation: folk songs, dramatic readings, and the twisting of words to promote socialism… on The History Channel.
The People Speak is a documentary inspired by Howard Zinn’s book, A People’s History of the United States and from the book he co-authored with Anthony Arnove, Voices of a People’s History. These are the voices of resistance in U.S. history – resistance to injustice, to war. Voices that can inspire viewers to recognize the power ordinary people have to change the course of history. These are also the voices that are excluded from traditional histories. Some voices are obscure, some famous and you will hear them express ideas that are excluded from the orthodox histories.
History should be a recount of what happened, not what some old Howard Zinn socialist tells us happened. That’s what happened with black history and now they’re going after the whole nation.

My wife, being a history major in college, still reads a lot of research books and such. She read a couple of Zinn’s books recently, just to get a perspective on current thought and direction in history. She read me some of it and I was appalled. The most striking thing is that he states that he takes the “orthodox” view of a particular event or time in history and assumes the exact opposite is true. That is where this People Speak thing is coming from. Be prepared for the idea of American exceptionalism to be beaten to a pulp and left on the altar of socialist guilt.

Howard Zinn came and spoke at the Massachusetts television station I used to work for before a live, studio audience of adoring, scraggly-haired liberals.
It was all I could do to bite my tongue for two hours.

Bob, you’re a paragon of patience. I’d have to throw the BS flag, though I suppose if it meant staying employed it would motivate a bitten tongue.

@Nicolas – details, details, republic…democracy…neither are a totalitarian regime with them in charge, so what’s the diff?
I agree that The History Channel is one of my (and my wife’s) favs. They haven’t been anything but revisionist for quite some time, though. This is just the most obvious. BTW, what’s up with all the paranormal and ghost stuff on the History channel?!
