Tired Of Being Bullied
Sorry folks, but there are some things I haven’t been able to let go.
Back in 2002 while writing in San Diego, I applied for an account with Lucianne.com, a news site, so I could attempt to link to some of my more controversial pieces. You know, drive a little traffic. I was successful and posted a couple.
I’m not sure how they do things there, but I believe they don’t have an infinite number of passwords given and when one person leaves, that password and account is recycled to a new user.
Shortly thereafter, I received an email from her people saying that they are revoking my account because I was uploading child porn. You can imagine my shock and later, Lucianne Goldberg herself began emailing, angry about my “child porn” activities. No matter how much I tried to explain it had to have come from the previous person who had my password, she would have none of it. So that was that.
A few months ago, a friend asked me about trying to get my columns linked to on Lucianne.com and I told him of my unpleasant experience. I even wrote about it again here, and within hours I got another email from Lucianne.
After reminding her of the incident, her people supposedly did a search and couldn’t find the emails between us, so as it was my word against hers (of course I was in the wrong), she threatened me with legal action if I didn’t offer a retraction and remove the offending post.
So, tell you what….
We all know that emails never go away.
If Lucianne wants to sue me for bringing this up again, fine. That will require I get an attorney, and I know a few.
Many of you know how I feel about people who are falsely accused. As someone who was nearly indicted for a rape that was later admitted to have never happened by someone I didn’t know and was nowhere near when it supposedly happened, this is something that always rubs me the wrong way.
So if Lucianne wants to sue, that would mean we’d have to subpoena my emails from Cox in 2002, ones between myself and Lucianne.com. And if by chance email correspondence shows that we did indeed talk, I was falsely accused, and I’m owed an apology… well, let’s put it this way.
I’m not going to be arrogant enough to threaten legal action, even though I could (and may even win).

Why is it that people who swear by the technology don’t understand how or why it works? Lost the e-mails my @$$. I guess you are saying “Bring it on!”, so if you can prove that the technologically-impared boneheads at Lucianne recycle username/passwords, you have a pretty cut-and-dried case. IMHO.

I say you have the moral high ground here. I think suing THEM wouldn’t be arrogant, it would be a step to clear the air
also, bob, i think it’s funny as hell you used the logo from a video game that I enjoy, nice
