I guess I'm glad were so "backwards" here in Alabama that we still use paper ballots. The machines just scan and count. Of course, stuffing a ballot box works both physically as well as electronically.

IT Nerd:

are you suggesting this is what really happened?

Will Hoffman be able to do anything with this in court? This casts doubt upon every democrat.... in fact, I think Norm Coleman should ask for consideration even though the machines are probably wiped by now...... this is serious business folks....

A quick analysis of the code revealed a search/replace feature undetected due to lack of relevant anti-virus software. The code was written to search out 55% of all instances of (R) and replace with (D).

shouldn’t be based on Windows computers

It is just an operating system, a low-level piece of software, and nothing more. Using Linux or Mac would not guarantee a better, or more secure platform. Although, when Google produces their OS, we can rest assured that no bias will be present nor evident.

Regardless of the OS you choose, best practices in security are always prudent and necessary. The fact that Linux is open source, does not ensure quality.

was it indeed a virus, or did the machines operate as programmed

The distinguishing factor is intent.

That's what happens when you look up porn on the Internet when you're supposed to be voting....

I believe that Electronic voting machines should exist purely for the purpose of printing out unimpeachably accurate paper ballots.

And they probably shouldn't be based on Windows computers.
