'Would there be this much enthusiasm over a Romney appearance, or Huckabee…'

I imagine Huck would draw more of a crowd than Romney, but you're right - neither could draw a crowd like Palin

Whether she runs for public office or not, she is a unifying figure, and that is a remarkable achievement at a time where there are people who actively work to divide us.

Meantime, the big spenders in the Federal government have now spent over $3.2 trillion with an accompanying deficit exceeding $1.4 trillion. When will the "best and brightest" learn that economics -101 (aka, Marxism, aka empire, etc.) does not work in the real world. Oh, that's right, when the Chinese communists demand a return on their investment.

<i>The president through conciliation and concession -- not to mention constant talk -- is trying to superficially restore the influence we once earned by virtue of our economic power and self-confidence in our exceptional past and singular values.</i>

That explains the CNN interview. Obama talks but fails to comprehend.

<i>"Chicago totally failed at the very first rule of elections; they never really understood the electorate and how to communicate with them"</i>

Remember, Obama and followers, according to United Way, "we are all people". As if the majority of Americans didn't already know that.

<i>Woman charged for Tinley Park hate crime</i>

Either we will be treated equally before the law, or this Republic is dead. The new Republic will not tolerate regressives in the form of liberals, nor progressives. It is unacceptable to legislate and litigate our rights and individual dignity away.

Re: Katrina and the Levee system.
A: the first levee to collapse was in the Lower Ninth Ward. The residents had lost a case when they sued the Levee board, the Corp, and the state when it was decided to enlarge a lock, and the residents pointed out that the traffic was not going to be helped at all by the lock, and well, the levee was a leaker as it was. So they sued to have the pork spent on actually improving the levee and not on an unneeded lock.
In overhead shots of that breach, you can see the new lock just up the canal from the breach.
The N.O. Levee Board is one of the more corrupt polities in a overly Corrupt N.O./Louisiana. Lots of shady deals and back scratching going on there. But the Corp did not press the fixing of the levee when they knew it needed it.

But

In the second levee collapse, in a middle class section of town, the levee was brand new. It had been complete in 2002 or 2003. I forget exactly when, but I left the area not long after it was finished early in 2004.
Even before it was finished, the residents were complaining of water seeping under the levee.
During the storm, no water came over the levees. they were breached as the water was receding. it had dropped 3-4 feet before the breaches occurred.
In both cases the Corp hold a goodly portion of the blame.
In the first for going along with pork for corrupt cronies in ignoring a old leaking levee, and in the second for a faulty design in a new levee in an area that had less leakage before they "Fixed" things.
At the least they were complicit with the Corruption that is the Levee Board and N.O. in general.

Look at that beautiful baby boy! I have a down syndrome sister, and remember her at that age. The joy in her little face at the simplest pleasures in life was like no other treasure I know. She still has the ability to make one smile with her sweet demeanor, at the age of 34!
I love that Sarah is being hailed as a hero, and hope that her overwhelming positive acceptance from regular people, shuts the left up once and for all.
