Cory and I just got back from seeing “2012″. Now while I won’t give out any spoilers (the movie was far-fetched yet entertaining), I have one question to ask regarding the later actions of the movie’s president (played by Danny Glover)…
What would Obama have done…?

Good one, Maus.
My big issue with the Mayan Calendar is the lack of pin-ups.
“That said, I can appreciate a good effort and 2012 was a good effort.”
interesting. is it fair to say that “2012″ is the 21st century “independence day”?
“..get irritated at anti-Republican lines gratuitously tossed into scripts (as happened in the “Did You Hear About the Morgans?” trailer prior)..”
ya me too. Fuckin’ bugs the HELL out of me. “Oh my god it’s Sarah Palin”. FUCKIN’ A, Hollywood..
also, Ilion, dude, I make typos all the time. Hell, I screw up my HTML half the time, too. No worries!
The most recent movie I’ve gone to see was “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” I liked it … my biggest gripe with it was that they jumpped into bed so quickly.
We understood, Ilion. No harm, no foul.
Oops. You’re not “My Parks,” you’re Mr Parks. Sorry ’bout that.
Almost forgot – another good reason to boycott Hollywood is that middle and older aged women don’t seem to exist in their movies.
I haven’t seen the movie in question, but in general, I think a boycott of Hollywood is in order.
I rarely buy or go to the movies because the thought of making these Hollywood traitors rich makes me sick.
Too many of their movies have a political agenda or are simply filled with car chases, gun play, etc. Can’t anybody just tell a good story anymore without all the carnage, explosions and destruction?
(Although, “An American Carol” was very funny, so I bought the DVD to support a movie with a conservative perspective.)
I must admit not having as much fun at movies as I did before working in Hollywood.
Now I see continuity flaws, get irritated at anti-Republican lines gratuitously tossed into scripts (as happened in the “Did You Hear About the Morgans? trailer prior to 2012), well done or sloppily executed green screen treatments, over-the-top plot lines that defy reason, etc.
That said, I can appreciate a good effort and 2012 was a good effort.
Bob shouldn’t give it away in public for those who do wish to see the film, Ilion.
I’ll bet Bob is a lot of fun at a movie, the two of us together would be a regular field day. People who have worked below the line tend to have more insight into these things. And our little comments can often be more entertaining than what is going down onscreen at the time, too.
Bob, I once commented out loud all the way thru a movie here in the VA Beach area, place was full of military, they turned out to be a very supportive crowd for my rather comedic and true interjections. We had a ball. At the end of the movie when the lights went up and I stood, the young sailors and marines gave the old airman an ovation. So I bowed.
Still, I tend to like the cartoons better these days. Madagascar was great in both I and II. And don’t get me started on Ice Age. Ilion, you should check those out.
I rarely go to a theater, and considering the absurdity of the trailers, I can’t imagine that I’ll be seeing this movie.
So, My Parks, please clue me in to what you mean.
Personally, I think that whinning about “spoilers” is childish.
Was it like in deep impact where everyone blamed the president despite him not realistically being able to do crap about it?
I understand the politically-justifiable knee-jerk reaction, and I didn’t want to come off a snobbish, but the question will have more of a humorous reaction with those who’ve seen 2012.
And he’d have to spend at least thirty seconds explaining how he inherited this disaster.
As well as sticking in a “there are some who…” straw man.
“blame bush”
after saying “now let me be clear…”
Blame Bush
