Whine Of The Day
While there are very few movies and television programs in which some character doesn’t throw a jab at Republicans, the new series “V” has liberals all outraged because there is actually a show that both mocks and takes them to task.
The horror….
Last night, ABC aired the pilot episode of a remake of “V.” I had to watch. The episode was so-so. The political drama of the original was replaced by a ham-handed metaphor for President Obama. The visitors are young, charismatic, futuristic, and have a one-worldish vision of peace. They target the young by enticing them to join an idealistic (but, in reality, sinister) youth group. A few perceptive humans warn of the dangers of hopping on the bandwagon before we know what the bandwagon is really about. The alien leader, Ana, promises to use futuristic technology to heal humans. “You mean universal health care!” gapes a reporter, who, naturally, has been co-opted by the aliens. The charismatic new leader is masking her true identity! The death panels are real! Etc., etc.
This is not just a right-wing worldview but the worldview of the paranoid Tea Party movement.
Obviously, left-wing entertainment is accurately considered the norm in entertainment circles, and liberals will never understand why newspapers are tanking, cable news is tanking (with the exception of Fox News). In typical progressive narcissistic fashion, they truly believe theirs is the only view, thus anything that interrupts that is deemed outrageous.
Let’s see if ABC bucks their self interest and eventually cancels a show that’s bringing in ratings (heaven forbid).

I never watched the original series so V was all new to me. I though the first episode was really good, worth watching though formulaic.
However, I caught on to the Obama Administration metaphor early on and when the reporter said Universal Health Care I called out to my husband! I nearly fell off the couch, wondering:
“how did THAT get on network TV?”

There was also a part where the visiters leader told the reporter that he couldn’t do the interview if he was going to ask any questions that will show them in a bad light

Liberals are the most humorless boorish group of humans on earth. They love to dish it out, but absolutely fall apart when they have to take it!
The original V was great, haven’t watched the new one. But I will now dvr it or watch it, just because it’s pissing off so many lefties!!!!

carolinagirl:
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Moreover, this particular regressive has just confirmed the veracity of the conspiracies, which left-wing lunatics continue to obfuscate and deny. It only requires one weak link to break the chain.
Speaking of the regressive solution, population control:
Faster route to stem-like cells
It is simply amazing what open-minded individuals can create. The Abortion Industry will soon need to review their books, as these innovations continue to come forth, and progress is made. The NRO (New Religious Order) will need to do damage control — big time — once this revelation comes to light. Well, that’s what happens when people observe selective science. They should have known better.

missed the Pilot, but I’ve seen the original series eons ago.
The story compares. In the original series pilot, the aliens bring a cure for cancer (which was the main medical focus back then), solve economic difficulties and fosters peace across humankind…but obviously they have their own agenda…

I thought only Fox did that (unless the show’s name is The Simpsons or 24)?

I don’t have a TV, so I missed the broadcast of V’s pilot episode. I also never saw the original.
I thought I could catch it on ABC Online, but the page said it was no longer available.
I watched it on Hulu

wanna hear soemthing funny.. the script and production was mostly done in 2007….. so it’s not even ABOUT Obambi. Anyone with a brain would be able to see that this show is written assuming you already know the basic story from the original and watch like you know the trainwreck is about to occur. In this case, critique of the acting and such aside, the story is old….. older than Obambi and his band of merry libtards.
I fear though ABC will realize what they have allowed and mess up the story entirely…

I think that the reason why “V” fits the Obama administration so aptly, despite the apparent lack of an intended allusion thereto, is because liberalism itself is formulaic. Whether you call it socialism, communism, fascism, totalitarianism, or what have you, it is the same old plutocracy that aggregates power at first through deceit and feigned altruism, then by winning devotion, and then through violence.

JR, you hit the nail on the head. Is it just me or would Ms Lizzard look a little like Obama if she got a good tanning session at the local Health Spa? I must becoming delusional or had a Brain Fart to see a similarity there. Then again, too much smoke & CO causes Hallucinations!
