Is the USS New York a ghost ship?

Think about it; thousands of people died within the steel that now comprises the New York. That’s got to be one hellacious vibe to overcome. I’d hate to be on that ship at sea in the middle of the night…

that’s an interesting perspective, grounded in experience. I didn’t think of that. I’m also surprised New York didn’t have a state named USS vessel. When I was studying Pearl Harbor in High School, I was always disappointed that the USS California was destroyed..
At any rate, I think it’s inventive to turn the steel of a fallen building into something that will help aid in the effort to protest us. Feels way too late though, more than the “better late than never” phrase, but ok. I wonder who LONG it took to construct it? Glenn Beck was saying it took maybe 180 something days (or something like that) to construct the Empire State Building I believe it was, but almost nothing has been done regarding the new “freedom tower”, 8 or so years LATER…
Certainly hope the New York serves her country with honor and distinction

I hate to change the subject, but I have a really pressing concern right now.
With the house passing (Almost) Universal Health-care, where does that put the large number of 100% disabled veterans who get health-care from the V.A. hospitals without having to get insurance? My disability check is only $2,297 a month and I can’t afford health insurance. When I last priced it, it was going to cost me almost $700 a month for just me.

Bob, the company I worked for had a hand in building that ship – quite a few stories there – I don’t know about ships being haunted, but w/ your background I’ll take your word that that’s a possibility – however, I would think that those on board would offer a positive haunting vice an evil one – after all the New York is out there to protect and defend …
Eric, you’ll probably be in the same boat as my dad … SOL
Let’s hope the Senate hears the voice of the people and kills this thing …

I would say this is off topic…but this IS open thread sunday…
Hey Bob. What are some of the most clever/witty/funny retorts that you’ve said when someones called you a sell out, uncle tom, house negro, etc?

I think of it in a positive light. The spirits of the slain helping to carry the fight to the enemy. Just imagine being a young seaman in your first hostile engagement and feeling the presence of “someone” with their hand on your shoulder and helping you to overcome your fears and stand to your duty.

Girz,
I’ll have to think on that one as I’ve never been in a “funny retort” state when receiving those compliments.

Somewhere in the Bible we are cautioned to “listen not to necromancers”.
I’ll go with that.

Haunted? Now that is one ship I would love to be aboard. I was never able to fulfill my dream and join the Navy. I wanted to be a submariner, but it would not work out at the time.
After following the building of the USS New York, I think I could serve aboard her. I followed the building because a lot of my family used to work in the Avondale Ship Yards.
Think about it; a ship, built from the towers where thousands died, delivering over 800 US Marines who will probably be a more than a tad pissed off. I would not want to be on the receiving end of that.

Not ghosts, Bob.
Not a one.
Avenging angels who will ensure no harm comes to her?
Heavens yes.
