The best part about John Stossel’s article is when he admits that he was biased as a reporter and learned an important fact: “business, for the most part, treats consumers pretty well. The way to get rich in business is to create something good, sell it for a reasonable price, acquire a reputation for honesty and keep pleasing customers so they come back for more.”

Whenever I hear the “big business gives big bonuses” talk, I’ve been pointing out that some artists live well on NEA grants, Bill Clinton was on public payrolls for most of his life and now makes millions in “retirement” as a speaker, etc. But at least big business is beholden to the customers footing the bill.

Its a beautiful morning here in VA.

“Gay-marriage foes claim victory in Maine”
Funny what happens when there is a vote. People are that way, though. Besides disagreeing with the referendum, the gay lobby has been trying to shove its agenda down the the throat of the country, which always gets some sort of pushback.

“New Orleans getting $1 billion barrier”
Will it go for the same POS levee or a state-of-the-art one like Holland’s.

“Democrat wins House seat in heavily GOP area in NY”
Love that NYT spin. “GOP get big blow”, hilarious. Also another classic in there, “Christie defeats “unpopular incumbent”. No mention of party affiliation. Amazing.

“Democrats: GOP backlash likely in ‘10″
Change is a comin’. Just wait until umemployment leaps into double-digits. They’ll really love him then. “It’s the economy, stupid”.

I have read your blog for over a year now and just now figured out I can post comments *blush*. I saw the headlines this morning about how CNN says that recent GOP victories don’t really mean anything in the long run (my paraphrase). Also the article about Crist is what got me to post. I was so glad when Martinez was leaving, but Crist trying to run for Senate.. that RINO bastard needs to be booted. Honestly I will be doing my part down here to get rid of him. I am not sure about his opponent, there were others who considered tossing their hat in that I would have preferred (Charles Bronson for example) but we take what we can get these days.

    Just keep praying everyone :)

  5. Trishmac says:

Machine, congratulations on a big win there. If I didn’t have a ton of family live in PA, I’d love to live in VA!
It is a glorious day. Two counties here in suburban Phila went hard for the GOP candidates, and I have a friend who despite horrible smear campaigns and negative newspaper columns by foes, (all over a school board position!!!!!) against him, managed to beat the odds and get elected in West Chester, a college town no less. There is hope!

  6. Trishmac says:

That should have been “If I didn’t have a ton of family living in PA”

  7. Igor says:

Shaitana, keep up the good work, and welcome!

Have you joined your local Tea Party, Constitution party, or 9-12 party to get support? Couldn’t hurt if you haven’t.

Let’s get rid of the “moderates” (LameStream Media tag…) in the Republican Party and get back to what Regan espoused – it’ll be the only way this country is saved.

As part of my Ignore A Liberal campaign I didn’t read the Dowd piece. I really don’t care what she has to say…

I wonder if the GOP will wake up and start actively endorsing the Conservatives and kick the RINO’s to the curb?
If Hoffman had been endorsed by the GOP from the beginning he would have won by a nice percentage. WAKE UP MICHAEL STEELE!!!!!!!!
In the latest polls 2/3 of Americans identify themselves as conservative. Do the math. It’s a no brainer really. How much money did Scuzzyfluffy get from the GOP? $1 million or so. That’s why I always answer the phone when the GOP calls and asks for money. And then I explain why they will not get a penny from me until things change. Ya know, change you can believe in……

On a side note. How much of our taxpayer dollars went to the NObama endorsement travelcade? Any Ideas?

  9. PB-in-AL says:

EPA – “…the agency is expected to confirm the link between greenhouse gases and public health…” – So, just declaring it makes it so?! Aside from the FACT that CO2 is not a pollutant.

New Orleans – I just have to wonder how much money we’ll have to dump into keeping water out of a bowl? Sure the technology exists, but does it make any sense to spend the amount of money that it will take; move to higher ground. That said, Mother Nature has a habit of surmounting our best efforts. I have friends that live in Biloxi, MS, who were much worse hit than N.O. during Katrina. They were on higher ground 2 miles from the shore and were still inundated.

GOP wins – way to go all! Do you suppose the RNC is willing to express the backbone and send the RINOs home? That was rhetorical, not much hope of that IMO.

Stossel – I appreciate his self-awareness revelation. Interesting that I’ve seen a number of this sort of post, i.e. lib to conservative. But I don’t see many going the other way. hmmmm

  10. Mauser says:

“Democrats: GOP backlash likely in ‘10″

    Buh?

I predicted 23 would get all the attention, in the face of the Elephant in the room (badump-bum), but this one surpasses all expectations.

Its a beautiful morning here in UT. An Indian summer with temperatures in the low 60s and a gentle breeze.

Its a great morning here in UT, now that the will of American citizens is no longer misrepresented. Well, almost.

Common Sense Health Care Reform and Affordability Act

    You read. You decide.

  12. n.n says:

Common Sense Health Care Reform and Affordability Act

Reduce costs to expand coverage? What a novel concept.

I believe Obama once suggested the same — what happened?

  13. n.n says:

Stossel is awesome. He has become a pragmatic idealist, a mature human being.

The market (i.e., resources and people) determine the value of a product and service. The alternative is to allow an oligarchy to prescribe an individual’s worth in society.

It is the people’s economy and the government should not be involved. Their role is to promote the general good, and nothing else.

That said, the government should provide oversight for the private sector. It should prevent monopolies and ensure equal opportunity. Businesses should not have incentive to import or export labor opportunities. The only time that is justified, is when domestic people lack the skill or knowledge for the task at hand.

  14. Nicolas says:

    Worms infesting PCs worldwide: Microsoft
‘These people, when caught, should be executed. Period’

most definitely. I hate how they WASTE their intelligence on THIS crap. Iwish the Government had these kinds of hackers to infiltrate OTHER countries…

‘Even if true, someone’s feeding him updates. This administration really does believe we’re stupid’

sad but true, as does the left. That’s why they like to arrogantly play the Mommy & Daddy role while continuing to (what that guy in the 1st episode of “notable qoutables” said”) “Write the Republican platform in crayon”

Obama Will Not Travel to Germany for 20th Anniversary of Fall of Berlin Wall

shocker of the day..too busy building a financial “wall” eqivulent to the Berlin Wall

Meg Whitman’s campaign spending is causing a stir

I attended her candidacy event in Davis, California some time ago (I believe in September or so). I was not impressed with her. I’m pulling for Steve Poizner for Governor of California

‘Candidates are cautioned against using their own money for a reason’

why is that? It worked for Michael Bloomberg

‘Ah, but if you add in the wasted 6% that went to Scozzafava, Hoffman wins, fool’

wonder how much over votes went to Hoffman as well? I saw lots THOUSANDS of over votes last night..too many boneheads can’t vote properly

**Ok, here is my election night summary**

We were definitely happy about NJ & VA, we were bummed about 2 losses – David Harmer lost by 10-15 points or so (stupidly John Garamendi won) and Jubal Biggs lost hard sadly..

BUT..the BIG news of the night, the campaign that I was personally involved in, a newcomer with a solid background, ‘Cat’ Moy, won by something like 50+ votes

what a great feeling to be involved in a campaign for the first time to have it be a VICTORY!!!!!
