The president is quick to remind us (and why is that…?) that it’s never all about him.
That being the case, maybe he should look at his own words in reflecting why Chicago lost out on hosting the Olympics…
Nearly one year ago, on a clear November night, people from every corner of the world gathered in the city of Chicago… to watch the results of the US presidential election. Their interest wasn’t about me as an individual. Rather, it was rooted in the belief that America’s experiment in democracy still speaks to a set of universal aspirations and ideals… and so I urge you to choose Chicago!
I ran for president because I believed deeply that at this defining moment the USA has a responsibility to forge new partnerships with the nations and the peoples of the world.
— President Barack Obama, speech to the Olympic Committee, 10/2/09
Nah, it wasn’t all about him.
I don’t see how anyone could think that.

I guess they wanted some high boots or some lubricant for the s*** they heard from obama.

Kai Holm, a former Olympics committee member, told the newspaper (translated): “The fact that Barack Obama came, could not do it. I think we lacked emotion, it seemed too empty and business-like. So when Tony Blair promoted London he was around three days to lobby and talk to people. You can not just come with the train one day and try to affect everything. People have felt that it was a lack of respect for the Olympics and sport in general. I think people felt it was too business-like to get into the way we have now seen it many times, and you would have feelings back.”
Hans Bonde, professor of sport history at the University of Copenhagen, told the newspaper: “Here come the more favor Obama just before the deadline and made showoff. He clearly won the battle in the media, but it turned out indeed to be indifferent. IOC members did not feel important, and they were indeed reduced to spectators and not players. So if he had come, he would have had time for a personal lubricant.”
I thought it hilarious that Chicago was eliminated the very first round. Frankly, I wasn’t surprised though. I think their visit actually sabotaged Chicago’s chances of winning the right to host the Olympics. If they had just stayed away they wouldn’t have put the decision committee in the position of having to be seen as puppets of Obambi which they most certainly would ahve been viewed as had they awarded the Olympics to Chicago. Frnakly, I feel that they HAD to purposely eliminate Chicago first so as to appear independent.
girzwald:
Obama, the man of mystery, revealed? I remember reading about his “achievements.”
Chicago lost cause obama couldn’t disqualify any of the contenders on technicalities. Also, ACORN couldn’t stuff ballot boxes.
So, the children weren’t singing “mmmm… mmmm… mmmm…,” but rather “me… me… me… me…,” just like their role model, Obama. Once again, children, and Obama, acting out to solicit the attention they desire.
Note to Obama: No one likes an egotist. Also, it would help your cause to remain focused and on topic.
